UFC heavyweight contender Greg Hardy made weight for his UFC Vegas 12 bout against Maurice Greene on Saturday night after an initial scare. At Friday’s official weigh-ins, Hardy first stepped onto the scale at 266.5lbs, a half-pound over the heavyweight non-title limit of 266lbs. Hardy was then given one more hour to make weight (Via ESPN’s Brett Okamoto). If Hardy didn’t make the weight, he would have become the first heavyweight in UFC history to miss weight (Via Sherdog’s Jay Pettry).

New Bellator middleweight champion Gegard Mousasi released a statement after defeating Douglas Lima to claim the vacant belt at Bellator 250. Mousasi won a unanimous decision over Lima in the main event of Thursday’s Bellator 250 card. Mousasi was able to control the cage for the entire fight as he walked Lima down, outstruck him, and landed some takedowns for good measure. It was nice to see a vintage performance from Mousasi, as he reclaimed the middleweight belt he lost two fights ago in an upset loss to Rafael Lovato Jr. Overall, Mousasi has won 10 of his last 11 fights.

The weigh-ins for UFC Vegas 12 took place on Friday and headliners Anderson Silva and Uriah Hall both made weight for the main event. In what could be the final fight of the legendary MMA career of Silva, he takes on Hall in a dream fight between two strikers. This is a fight the UFC has tried to book in the past but now at age 45 for Silva and age 36 for Hall, they finally meet in the Octagon. Silva is coming off of an 18-month layoff following a TKO loss to Jared Cannonier in his last fight while Hall hasn’t fought since last September, though he has won his last two fights.

MMA trainer Firas Zahabi says his pupil at Tristar Gym Georges St-Pierre and UFC great Khabib Nurmagomedov “deserve their retirement.” Zahabi has been St-Pierre’s trainer for years at Tristar in Montreal and the coach has spoken openly in the past about a potential superfight between GSP and Nurmagomedov. However, in the wake of Nurmagomedov retiring following his submission win over Justin Gaethje at UFC 254, it appears that any possibility of a fight between these two legends has disappeared, at least for the time being. Zahabi agrees with that sentiment.

Former UFC bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw appears to be in phenomenal shape ahead of his upcoming reinstatement into the Octagon in 2021. A former two-time UFC bantamweight champion, Dillashaw hasn’t fought since January 2019 when he suffered a first-round TKO loss to Henry Cejudo. Following the fight, he failed his post-fight drug test and was suspended for two years by USADA after testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs. Dillashaw is now set to return to the Octagon in January 2021 and he is expected to get a top-15 opponent in his first fight back.

Middleweight Gegard Mousasi could move up to light heavyweight next in order to become a double champion says Bellator president Scott Coker. Mousasi bested Bellator welterweight champion Douglas Lima via unanimous decision in the main event of Thursday night’s Bellator 250 card. Mousasi was able to get the better of Lima on the feet and on the mat as he won the decision and earned the vacant Bellator middleweight champion, his second time winning the organization’s title at 185lbs. Mousasi is now 5-1 overall in the Bellator cage and a winner of 10 of his last 11 fights.

Gegard Mousasi had high praise for Douglas Lima after he beat the Brazilian in the main event of Bellator 250 last night. Mousasi and Lima battled over the Bellator Middleweight Championship in Uncasville, and after a hard fought affair, it was the veteran Mousasi who captured the belt in a unanimous decision victory. The win marked the second time that Mousasi had held the title with his first reign coming to an end at the hands of Rafael Lovato Jr.

The pro wrestling community has reacted to Jake Hager‘s big split decision victory at Bellator 250 last night. Hager took his professional mixed martial arts record to 3-0 (1) with a split decision win over Brandon Calton in Uncasville, and while it may have allowed him to maintain his unbeaten record in the sport, he had to go through more adversity than he ever has before in order to get to that point.

Jake Hager got his hand raised at Bellator 250 but it did not come easy. Hager, who is undefeated as a pro, was taking on Brandon Calton in a fight many thought was set up for Hager to win. However, that was far from the case as the former Pittsburgh Steelers practice roster player, was stuffing Hager’s takedowns and piecing him on the feet.

Before that, he suffered a controversial majority decision loss to Rafael Lovato Jr. to lose his middleweight title. In his career, he has notable wins over Rory MacDonald, Chris Weidman, Uriah Hall, Thiago Santos, and Vitor Belfort among countless others.

Since coming over to Bellator, Mousasi is 4-1 and does have a notable win over Rory MacDonald for the first and only title defense of his Bellator title.

Dana White believes Khabib Nurmagomedov will end his short-lived retirement and return for one final fight. After Nurmagomedov submitted Justin Gaethje at UFC 254 to defend his lightweight title he announced his retirement from the sport. The news shocked many including his coaches and UFC president, Dana White as everyone thought he would go for 30-0.

Sean Strickland didn’t know if he would make the walk to the ever Octagon again. In the middle of December of 2018, Strickland was driving back from King MMA on his motorcycle when he was involved in a serious accident. The crash was not his fault, but he went unconscious and did not wake up until hours later. He also needed surgery and when he woke up, doctors told him his fighting career was likely over.

The Canadian won The Ultimate Fighter Season 27 and on the show, beat the likes of Kyler Phillips and even submitted Bryce Mitchell. Yet, after going 2-0 to start his UFC tenure, he lost back-to-back fights to Merab Dvalishvili and Hunter Azure and was released.

Bellator president Scott Coker explained why Bellator made 30 roster cuts including veterans such as Frank Mir, Roy Nelson, and Joe Warren. It was reported earlier this week that Bellator cut a number of fighters from its roster. Many of the fighters who were released were veterans coming to the end of the like such as Mir, Nelson, and Warren, but there were also a number of younger fighters on the list such as Ricky Bandejas, Chris Lencioni, and AJ Agazarm that surprised fans.

On Thursday, Blachowicz took to Twitter to call for a title defense opposite undefeated UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya, naming March as his preferred timeframe for this super fight.

Former UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker has some high praise for UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov—even conceding he wouldn’t want to fight him. Whittaker and Nurmagomedov both returned to the cage at UFC 254 last Saturday. Whittaker defeated Jared Cannonier in a perceived middleweight No. 1 contender fight in the co-main event, while Nurmagomedov defended the lightweight belt with a submission win over Justin Gaethje in the main event, and announced his retirement immediately thereafter.

UFC middleweight contender Chris Weidman explained why the UFC passed on booking him in the fight against top prospect Khamzat Chimaev. Weidman broke his long losing skid with a unanimous decision win over Omari Akhmedov in his last outing. Since then, Weidman has been calling for some of the top dogs in the middleweight division such as Derek Brunson and Paulo Costa. Another fighter who Weidman mentioned as a potential opponent in Chimaev. Most fighters didn’t seem to be interested in being matched up with the Swede, but Weidman was out there calling for it.
