Former UFC fighter Mark Munoz has been placed on administrative leave from his job as a high school wrestling coach. Back in his mixed martial arts days, Mark Munoz fought some of the toughest fighters of his generation. From Lyoto Machida and Chris Weidman to Gegard Mousasi and Demian Maia, Munoz was the kind of guy who was willing to take on all challengers. In addition to that, he’s also been listed as one of the nicest fighters in the sport, with many giving him the title during his active days as a competitor.

Holly Holm ended her nearly two-year layoff on Saturday night in the main event of UFC Vegas 55 against Ketlen Vieira. Holm was riding a two-fight win streak and had she beaten Vieira she likely would have been granted a title shot. The bout proved to be very competitive but in the end it was Vieira who was awarded the split decision in a fight that many thought Holm won.

Winkeljohn, a coach of Holm, was confident his pupil had won the fight when the final bell rang. It was a close competitive fight, but Holm had nearly double the significant strikes of Vieira and had almost nine more minutes of control so, for Winkeljohn, he doesn’t know how Vieira got her hand raised.

Former UFC welterweight title challenger Thiago Alves is no longer under contract with BKFC as he eyes a return to mixed martial arts. Just a few months ago, Thiago Alves noted that he was interested in defending his BKFC middleweight championship against Mike Perry later this summer – perhaps as early as June. Alas, it doesn’t appear as if that’s going to happen, with an MMA return actually being more likely for Alves now at this stage of his career.

Eryk Anders has given his thoughts following his controversial defeat at the hands of Park Jun-yong last weekend. Saturday night’s UFC Vegas 55 card certainly turned a few heads with many fans and pundits alike disagreeing with some of the decisions that were made by the judges. Santiago Ponzinibbio has issued a statement following his defeat to Michel Pereira at the UFC Apex last weekend. In what was easily the fight of the night for Saturday evening’s card, Santiago Ponzinibbio and Michel Pereira went to war in a really fun welterweight clash. Both men had some great moments throughout the course of the three rounds but ultimately, it was Pereira who did just about enough in the eyes of the judges to get a split decision nod.

Holly Holm’s team has questioned the legitimacy of the sport following her controversial loss to Ketlen Vieira. Last Saturday night at the UFC Apex, Holly Holm went head to head with Ketlen Vieira in an attempt to extend her current win streak with the promotion to three. Unfortunately for the veteran, she was unable to do so as she fell to a split decision loss with the judges scoring the contest 47-48, 48-47 and 48-47.

Sterling, the current UFC bantamweight champion, had a rally in his hometown of Uniondale, New York as he rode atop a fire truck and waved to everyone in attendance.
