Jorge Masvidal made his way into the UFC history books at UFC 239 when he zapped the formerly undefeated Ben Askren in a record-shattering five seconds. Now, this incredible victory is being immortalized with a mural at American Top Team, Masvidal’s long-time gym. This Masvidal mural is being done artist Ross Baines. Baines has already painted a small-scale version of the image that will ultimately end up on the wall of American Top Team.

According to Gegard Mousasi, there is one telltale sign that gives away Bellator middleweight champ Rafael Lovato Jr.’s alleged PED-use use. The Iranian-Dutchman believes the middleweight’s nipples are dead giveaway. Mousasi once again lobbed some accusations in Lovato’s direction after Saturday’s Bellator 228 card, where he defeated Lyoto Machida by decision.

Josh Barnett is interested in a potential Bellator heavyweight legends tournament, and if it happens he hopes the tournament takes place during one night. Barnett was signed by Bellator earlier this year after the UFC released him following a dispute with USADA. He hasn’t fought in three years, and is rumored to be making his return on the year-end Bellator/RIZIN card, though that’s not official just yet.

Ben Askren recently had his first taste of defeat as a pro mixed martial artist. This bitter dish was served up by Jorge Masvidal, who finished the pair’s UFC 239 fight with a flying knee knockout in just five seconds. While it’s hard to imagine a more brutal way to lose, Askren has been extremely open about this setback. That, he says, is by design. He feels anything else would have been counterproductive, and he points to the career-ending losses of Ronda Rousey as proof of that.

When Eric Spicely was forced out of his UFC Boston showdown with Brendan Allen, Burns promptly offered to step in and replace him — despite the fact that the fight will be contested a full 30 pounds above his former division. And in case you thought he was kidding, he assures he’s not.

When Tyron Woodley and Kamaru Usman first shared the cage, Usman walked away with a unanimous decision victory. Yet Woodley is not convinced Usman is the better fighter. “When you watch the Kamaru Usman fight, I don’t have to watch it. Top middleweight contender Jared Cannonier was asked to give his thoughts on next weekend’s main event at UFC 243 between UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker and interim champ Israel Adesanya, as he could potentially be next in line for the belt. With his knockout win over Jack Hermansson in the main event of UFC Copenhagen, Cannonier is closing in on a title shot. He’s likely still behind fellow contender Paulo Costa in the title pecking order, but that’s still a great spot for “The Killa Gorilla” to be in. After his TKO win over Hermansson, Cannonier was asked what he thinks about next week’s title fight, and he admitted he’ll be paying close attention to the matchup given he could potentially face the winner of it.

The main event of Bellator 228 saw long-time veterans Gegard Mousasi and Lyoto Machida rematch five years after meeting for the first time in the UFC. Machida won that fight via unanimous decision, and now five years later Mousasi has a victory in the series as he edged out a split decision over Machida in the rematch.
