Max Griffin will return to the Octagon on Saturday against Alex Morono at UFC Tampa. He last fought back in April at UFC 236 and edged out a decision over Zelim Imadaev. For Griffin, the hope was to fight much sooner than this. He was scheduled to fight in summer but the UFC could not find him an opponent.

Eddie Alvarez has had an interesting run in ONE Championship thus far. After losing his promotional debut at the hands of Timofey Nastyukhin in March, he rebounded with a beautiful, come-from-behind submission defeat of the former champion Eduard Folayang in August. Alvarez was then expected to meet Saygid Guseyn “Dagi” Arslanaliev at ONE: Century in Tokyo this weekend, but was unfortunately forced off the card with an injury.
Conor McGregor gives Seth Rogen a suggestion for Superbad 2 plot

If Dan Hardy was in charge of matchmaking fights, he would not be booking a rematch between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor. The two fought at UFC 229 where Nurmagomedov seemingly dominated the entirety of the fight en route to a fourth round submission win. Since the loss, the Irishman has been clamoring for a rematch, which Dan Hardy believes doesn’t make sense. Instead, he thinks there are better options for both fighters.

Kevin Holland was originally scheduled to fight Antonio Arroyo in November in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Then, an opportunity arose to face a familiar regional foe in one of the greatest fighting cities in the world. Holland will replace Eric Spicely to face Brendan Allen at UFC on ESPN 6, which was first reported by MMA Junkie. The event will take place next Friday, Oct. 18 at the TD Garden in Boston, Mass. While the opportunity to fight Allen was an exciting one, he now gets to compete on the card he had hoped to get on.

Yorgan De Castro has had a cinematic-like 2019 thus far, which was made even more special with a highlight reel, “Performance of the Night” winning knockout at UFC 243. Despite the incredible year he has had, De Castro is ready for more, even if he is needed next weekend. De Castro knocked out Justin Tafa in just over two minutes to kick off Saturday night’s main card in Melbourne, Australia to cap off what has, so far, been a whirlwind of a year. The 31-year-old began the year with a unanimous decision win over Carlton Little at CES 54 in January, just his fourth professional fight. Five months later, De Castro would take on Alton Meeks on the first Dana White’s Contender Series fight of the season. Despite being the biggest underdog on the card, and one of the biggest of the entire season, De Castro would drop Meeks with a brutal leg kick and finish with a barrage of hammerfists to earn the win and a UFC contract.

UFC lightweight contender Justin Gaethje has rejected the idea of a fight against divisional rival Dan Hooker after the Kiwi star called him out. Gaethje (21-2) is coming off the back of a big win over Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone last month which served as his third straight first round knockout, bringing his UFC record to 4-2. Hooker (19-8), on the other hand, was able to dispatch of Al Iaquinta at UFC 243 with a comprehensive unanimous decision win.

Manager Ali Abdelaziz says that Frankie Edgar ‘will still whoop Conor McGregor’s ass’ despite being at a size disadvantage if they do end up fighting. The manager of Dominance MMA spoke at this week’s media event in Los Angeles about a potential fight between his client Edgar and McGregor. Abdelaziz says he likes this fight for Edgar and believes that despite being smaller, Edgar will still beat McGregor.

Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal is postponing his retirement for one final fight in Bellator. “King Mo” will return at Bellator 233 to take on Andrew Kapel in a 195lbs catchweight bout. The card takes place November 8 WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, Oklahoma. Bellator has confirmed the bout will act as Lawal’s final retirement fight.

According to Abdelaziz, his top fighters would all give McGregor problems because, as he put it, Nurmagomedov “took his soul” when he submitted McGregor last year at UFC 229.

'Triple C' Fabricio Werdum wants to shock the world with his return

Former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum has said that he wants to shock the world upon returning to the Octagon. Werdum, 42, was handed a suspension back in May 2018 after failing a United States Anti Doping (USADA) drug test. While Fabricio may plead his innocence, the Brazilian star will only be able to return in May 2020.
