Jorge Masvidal outlines areas where Cerrone will be vulnerable against McGregor

Jorge Masvidal believes Donald Cerrone is capable of beating Conor McGregor at UFC 246, but only if he’s able to avoid making a few crucial errors. First and foremost, Masvidal believes Cerrone will need to steer clear of McGregor’s fight-ending power early. By his estimation, McGregor is one of the fastest starters in the sport, while Cerrone has historically been a bit of a slow starter.

That t-shirt was ridiculed by fans and media online for being ridiculous, but now we at least know why Reebok released the shirt as McGregor is the star of this new ad campaign for Zig Kinetica shoes.

An exciting bantamweight matchup between Jonathan Martinez and Andre Ewell looks to be heading to the Lone Star State. Sources have confirmed to BJPENN.com that the matchup is scheduled to take place at UFC 247. The event goes down Feb. 8 at the Houston Center in Houston, Texas and will feature two world title fights, headlined by Jon Jones defending the UFC light heavyweight title against Dominick Reyes.

BJJ ace Dillon Danis is one of Conor McGregor’s key training partners, and has undoubtedly been particularly valuable as McGregor prepares for the submission chops of Donald Cerrone. Unfortunately, there is a small barrier to Danis actually being able to corner McGregor for his fight wth Cerrone, which tops the UFC 246 card this Saturday. According to Kevin Iole, who spoke to Nevada Athletic Commission director Bob Bennett, Danis still owes the state of Nevada $7,500 for his role in the infamous UFC 229 brawl between McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov’s teams.

Top contender Paulo Costa says that believes UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya is an easier fight for him than Uriah Hall was. Costa knocked out Hall at UFC 226 in July 2018 in one of the best performances of his career. After defeating Yoel Romero in a 2019 “Fight of the Year” candidate at UFC 241, Costa was set to fight Adesanya for the middleweight belt. But due to injuries, Costa will not be able to fight Adesanya next, and Romero seems poised to get the next title shot instead.

For months, the talk of the town has been that McGregor’s plan for 2020 included a fight against Cerrone, a match against Masvidal, and then a title shot against UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. However, Masvidal believes that based on recent interviews from McGregor he won’t be getting called out should “Notorious” get by “Cowboy” at UFC 246 next weekend.

UFC middleweight star Darren Till is currently awaiting his next fight booking, and he is now teasing a return at UFC 248. Till is coming off of a split decision win over Kelvin Gastelum at UFC 244 in what was his official UFC middleweight debut. He is currently ranked No. 5 overall in the UFC’s 185lbs rankings, so he should be in line for a big fight his next time out.
