UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya and his next opponent Yoel Romero got into a dance-off at the UFC 248 press conference. The UFC invited Adesanya and Romero to UFC 247 this weekend and before the card on Saturday night they held a press conference for next month’s UFC 248 event that both men are headlining. Adesanya vs. Romero is taking place because No. 1 contender Paulo Costa is injured and unable to fight for the belt.

Katlyn Chookagian is full of confidence heading into her first UFC title fight. In the co-main event of UFC 247, Chookagian will take on current flyweight champion, Valentina Shevchenko and will do so as a massive underdog. She is hovering around +700. But, that isn’t slowing her confidence, as she says she is better everywhere than ‘The Bullet’ and will dominate Saturday’s fight.

UFC welterweight James Krause has decided to step up on 24 hours notice to fight Trevin Giles in a middleweight bout on the UFC 247 undercard. Giles was supposed to fight Antonio Arroyo on the preliminary card for UFC 247. Arroyo successfully made weight on the scale but afterwards was transported to a hospital after suffering a brutal weight cut, temporarily leaving Giles without an opponent. That is until Krause decided to step up on short notice to save the fight.

The grudge match between Tyron Woodley and Colby Covington was apparently close to happening once again. Ever since Covington won the interim title over Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 225 he had been calling out Tyron Woodley for a fight.

Brendan Schaub feels Dominick Reyes has a shot at dethroning Jon Jones. This Saturday night (Feb. 8), Jones will put his UFC light heavyweight gold on the line against Reyes. “Bones” vs. “The Devastator” will headline UFC 247 inside the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. Both men hit their target weight with Jones weighing in at 204 pounds and Reyes tipping the scales at 205.

Shields has even suggested she’d be willing to fight Nunes under the MMA rule-set. The boxing champ appears to have been serious about those comments.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t sound like the fan veteran veteran received much more than his typical fight purse Responding to a fan in the replies to a recent Instagram post, Cerrone revealed that he didn’t receive any pay-per-view points for his fight with McGregor, and only received his standard “flat money.”

UFC lightweight contender Dustin Poirier doesn’t believe that Conor McGregor has any interest in a rematch against him. Poirier and McGregor first met way back at UFC 178 in September 2014 in a featherweight bout. At the time, Poirier was one of the top contenders at 145lbs, while McGregor was on his way up the ladder. Looking back, it’s crazy to see that McGregor vs. Poirier was third on the main card behind Demetrious Johnson vs. Chris Cariaso in the main event and Donald Cerrone vs. Eddie Alvarez in the co-main event.

Alex Hernandez was not impressed by the performance Donald Cerrone put forth in his 40-second UFC 246 loss to Conor McGregor — and that’s putting it lightly. Hernandez, who was knocked out by Cerrone in early 2019, went after his former foil during a recent scrum with the media, accusing the fan favorite veteran of quitting against McGregor.

UFC lightweight contender Dustin Poirier doesn’t believe he will fight Nate Diaz because he claims the superstar is retired. Poirier has been calling out Diaz for months on social media, but so far nothing has come from it. On Friday, Poirier did a Q&A session with fans on his Twitter, and one fan asked him if he would like to fight Diaz at International Fight Week in July in Las Vegas.

Since that fight, which was his return from a four-year layoff, many have wondered if the Canadian will fight again. He has hinted at a Khabib Nurmagomedov matchup but the UFC wasn’t interested in it.

At UFC 247, he has that opportunity as he will take on Mirsad Bektic on the main card where a win should get him ranked.
