ONE Championship returned to our screens on Friday with the stacked ONE: A New Tomorrow card out of Bangkok, Thailand. The card was topped by a ONE Lightweight Muay Thai World Title showdown between reigning champ Rodtang Jitmuangnon and former champ Jonathan “The General” Haggerty. Rodtang won the pair’s first fight with a close decision. This time around, the champ left no doubt, bludgeoning the Brit to a TKO win at 2:39 of the third round.

The strawweight contender made a huge impact with back to back wins to solidify her debut year with ONE as a serious contender. She is scheduled to face Japanese stalwart Ayaka Miura in a three-round contest.

Puja Tomar may not be a name you hear often, but this Friday night at ONE: A New Tomorrow, she looks to score a huge upset against one of ONE Championship’s brightest young stars.  Tomar is set to take on two-sport World Champion Stamp Fairtex in a three-round atomweight contest. The bout airs live from the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand on January 10.

Singapore-based martial arts organization ONE Championship had a big year in 2019, and is plotting even bigger things in 2020. On Sunday night, ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong took to social media to lay out plans for a hectic 2020 calendar, featuring 50 shows across ONE properties including the main ONE Championship MMA brand, feeder shows ONE Warrior Series and ONE Hero Series, and its newly launched e-sports arm, ONE Esports.

Top ONE Championship lightweight contender Lowen Tynanes is a fearsome competitor in the cage. His stunning perfect professional record of 10-0 is no doubt impressive, but it is the way he garnered all those wins that have been more telling. Seven of Tynanes’ 10 wins have come by finish, including three knockouts and four submissions. In early January, Tynanes blasted through veteran Honorio Banario to reach the semifinals of the ONE Lightweight World Grand Prix Championship.

Vitor Belfort wants to rematch Wanderlei Silva. The two fought back in October of 1998 at UFC Brazil where it was Belfort who won by first round TKO. Since then, Silva became the Pride champion while Belfort won the UFC’s light heavyweight championship and both have gone their own ways.

Eddie Alvarez isn’t a big fan of way the UFC is handing out title shots these days. Specifically, the current ONE Championship lightweight contender is against potential title shots for Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor. Aldo, who is the former UFC featherweight champion, made his debut in the bantamweight division at UFC 245, losing a controversial decision to Alvarez’s teammate Marlon Moraes. Despite this loss, he’s been targeted by UFC bantamweight champ Henry Cejudo, and UFC President Dana White seems interested in booking a title fight between the two.

From the sounds of it, the former UFC and Bellator lightweight champion has enjoyed his time with the Singapore-based promotion. Alvarez discussed his time with ONE Championship, and how it differs from his time with the UFC, at Wednesday’s game between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Miami Heat.
