Jairzinho Rozenstruik is expecting to continue his knockout streak on Saturday night when he takes on Francis Ngannou at UFC 249. Rozenstruik and Ngannou were expected to headline UFC Columbus and then fight on April 18, but those events were canceled. Now, for Rozenstruik, he finally gets his wish of fighting Ngannou on May 9.

UFC heavyweight contender Jairzinho Rozenstruik is calling for an interim heavyweight title fight against Francis Ngannou to headline UFC 249. UFC president Dana White continues to be adamant the show will go on despite Khabib Nurmagomedov making it clear he cannot compete at UFC 249 against Tony Ferguson. The promotion is reportedly in talks with Ferguson and Justin Gaethje about a lightweight fight between them to headline the event, but so far nothing has been made official.

When he arrived home in his native Suriname, Rozenstruik received a welcome worthy of this feat, as he was swarmed by fans, journalists, and photographers. In the US capital, the Surinamese knockout artist was taking on Alistair Overeem, who was looking to climb his way up to another title shot. In the end, Rozenstruik knocked Overeem out with just four seconds left in the fifth and final round to remain undefeated.

The judges’ scorecards have been revealed for the heavyweight main event at UFC Washington, D.C. between Jairzinho Rozenstruik and Alistair Overeem. Overeem appeared to be comfortably up ahead on the scorecards and well on his way to getting his hand raised by decision until Rozenstruik landed a fight-ending KO at 4:56 of the fifth round. It’s the latest KO in UFC heavyweight history, and as the judges’ scorecards showed, he needed it or else he would have lost a decision.
