Colby Covington has apologized to Dustin Poirier for bad-mouthing him in an interview. Covington and Poirier, who both train at American Top Team in Florida, devolved from training partners into enemies last year. The pair even exchanged some threats on social media. This lead ATT owner Dan Lambert to broker a truce between the pair.

The current UFC San Diego betting odds favor former title contender Dustin Poirier to win the lightweight showdown against Dan Hooker. It was reported recently that the UFC is lining up a Poirier vs. Hooker main event showdown that is set to take place in San Diego, California on May 16. Both men are considered to be amongst the top contenders in the lightweight division, with both believing that they’re only a few wins away from a title shot.

Former UFC lightweight interim champion Dustin Poirier is expected to face the divisions surging contender, Dan Hooker in a 155-pound blockbuster showdown. According to  MMA Junkie, “The Diamond” is expected to fight Hooker in the main event of UFC San Diego on May 16th, but contracts are yet to be signed. The sources have requested anonymity due to the fact that the UFC has yet to make an official announcement.

Dustin Poirier has hinted at his next fight on social media. Poirier has been campaigning for a scrap for weeks and now has taken to Twitter to hint at a possible main event fight against Dan Hooker. The Kiwi, of course, had stated that he would like to fight Poirier, if Justin Gaethje was not available.

UFC lightweight contender Dustin Poirier says he is planning a return to the Octagon in May after having not fought since last September. We last saw Poirier at UFC 242 when he was choked out by UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. That loss snapped a six-fight unbeaten streak for Poirier, but despite the loss he remains one of the highest-ranked lightweights in the UFC.

Iaquinta and Poirier are both currently without opponents and considering both men are ranked in the top-10 at 155lbs, it’s quite possible they will fight each other next.

UFC lightweight Dustin Poirier has been chasing a fight against Nate Diaz for months, but now he’s finally decided to move on. Speaking on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show on Monday, Poirier said that UFC matchmakers Sean Shelby and Mick Maynard told him that Diaz and his camp have not responded to their requests for him to fight Poirier, and have told “The Diamond” to move on.

UFC lightweight contender Dustin Poirier doesn’t believe that Conor McGregor has any interest in a rematch against him. Poirier and McGregor first met way back at UFC 178 in September 2014 in a featherweight bout. At the time, Poirier was one of the top contenders at 145lbs, while McGregor was on his way up the ladder. Looking back, it’s crazy to see that McGregor vs. Poirier was third on the main card behind Demetrious Johnson vs. Chris Cariaso in the main event and Donald Cerrone vs. Eddie Alvarez in the co-main event.

Poirier has been calling out Diaz for months on social media, but so far nothing has come from it. On Friday, Poirier did a Q&A session with fans on his Twitter, and one fan asked him if he would like to fight Diaz at International Fight Week in July in Las Vegas.

UFC lightweight contender Dustin Poirier says that he is set to take on Brazilian jiu-jitsu star Gary Tonon in a grappling match in February. Poirier will take on Tonon in the main event of the SubStars Jiu-Jitsu event on February 21 at The Fillmore at the Jackie Gleason Theater in Miami Beach, Florida. In September of 2019, Dustin Poirier challenged the undefeated Khabib Nurmagomedov for the UFC lightweight belt. Unfortunately for Poirier and his fans, the mission didn’t go as planned, as he was submitted by the champion in the third round. Despite this loss, Poirier is still determined to be become the undisputed UFC lightweight champion in the future. His brief reign as the interim lightweight champ, he says, just doesn’t cut it as far as his legacy is concerned.

McGregor, who returned to the Octagon on Saturday, knocked out Donald Cerrone in just 40 seconds which was a very impressive performance. After the fight, many wondered what would be next. Dana White made it clear he wants the Khabib Nurmagomedov rematch. Yet, John Kavanagh says Justin Gaethje makes sense, but Poirier has now thrown his name in the hat.

Poirier has fought the majority of his career at the featherweight limit of 145lbs and the lightweight limit of 155lbs. As the sport has evolved, fighters are beginning to learn that cutting a bunch of weight doesn’t necessarily lead to better results. In recent days, Poirier has said that he is open to moving up to the welterweight limit of 170lbs to take on Nate Diaz.

UFC lightweight contender Dustin Poirier told fans on his social media that he would knock out Nate Diaz if the two meet inside the Octagon. Poirier and Diaz were supposed to link up back at UFC 230, but the fight was cancelled due to injuries. Neither man ended up fighting on the card. However, it’s clear Poirier still wants the Diaz fight because he keeps bringing up his name on social media.

UFC lightweight contender Dustin Poirier says he wants to fight in the co-main event of UFC 249 against either Justin Gaethje or Nate Diaz. Poirier is coming off of a stoppage loss to UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 242 but a win over Gaethje or Diaz could see Poirier jump right back into title contention. The fact Nurmagomedov is defending his belt against Tony Ferguson on the same card would put Poirier on an identical timeline with the champion, not to mention provide some insurance in case of an injury to either headliner.
