Daniel Cormier believes booking the UFC’s welterweight division should be rather easy. Right now, it appears the only fight booked is Kamaru Usman vs. Gilbert Burns. The plan was to do Jorge Masvidal vs. Nate Diaz 2 but Colby Covington might be next for ‘Gamebred’. So, if Cormier was a matchmaker he believes there are five big fights the UFC can book.

Former two-division UFC champion Daniel Cormier is hoping the promotion will book a fight between Jorge Masvidal and Colby Covington next. Masvidal has recently been linked to a high-profile rematch with Nate Diaz, targeted for early 2021. However, that potential booking has not been overly popular, as Masvidal defeated Diaz fairly decisively when they fought for the BMF title in 2019.

Chimaev made his UFC debut back in July and took the MMA world by storm after he dominated John Philipps en route to a second round submission win at middleweight. He then fought again 10 days later where he beat Rhys McKee by TKO at welterweight.

Retired UFC star Daniel Cormier has confirmed that he is in very early talks with WWE regarding a potential switch over to pro wrestling. Cormier officially announced his retirement from mixed martial arts last month after failing to win back the UFC Heavyweight Championship in his trilogy fight with Stipe Miocic. Before that, however, fans had always known that there was a possibility “DC” would make the jump over to professional wrestling in some capacity once he hung up his gloves.

The official UFC rankings have been updated after last weekend’s UFC Vegas 9 card, and despite the lack of big names on the bill, there have been some interesting changes. On of the biggest changes to the UFC rankings stems from the UFC Vegas 9 main event, in which Alistair Overeem thumped Augusto Sakai en route to a fifth-round TKO win. This performance, which moved Overeem onto a two-fight win-streak, was enough to push him into the No. 5 spot in the heavyweight division.

Cormier, the former UFC heavyweight and light heavyweight champion, competed in his retirement fight in the UFC 252 main event in August, giving up a close decision in a bid to reclaim the UFC heavyweight title from Stipe Miocic.

Yet, that is far from what happened as he was dominated for five rounds as Miocic defended his belt.

The medical suspensions for last Saturday’s UFC 252 card are in, and as expected from a card so jam-packed with violence, some fighters will be out for awhile. Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier, who battled for five hard rounds in the UFC 252 main event, will both be out until September 30 at minimum due to potential eye damage sustained in their fight. Cormier could be out much longer if he’s not cleared by an ophthalmologist.

In the UFC 252 main event, Cormier lost a close decision to reigning UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic. The bout marked the third time the two legends had shared the Octagon together, with Cormier winning the first fight by first-round knockout, and Miocic winning their second by fourth-round TKO.

Ahead of the fight, there was speculation it could be the final fight for both men but Miocic put those claims to bed. Yet, Cormier was having his retirement fight and leave the sport on top. However, that was not the case as it was Miocic winning the trilogy fight by unanimous decision in a very competitive fight.

Mid-way through Miocic and Cormier’s fight, the former landed an inadvertent eye-poke that left the latter with compromised vision. When Cormier complained about sustaining an eye-poke, however, Goddard denied that a foul had been committed.

Long-time UFC commentator Joe Rogan says it was difficult to call the action for his friend Daniel Cormier’s title fight with Stipe Miocic at UFC 252. In main event of Saturday’s UFC 252 card, Cormier stepped into the Octagon for a final time challenging Miocic for the UFC heavyweight crown. In the end, the fight, which marked the pair’s third meeting, went the way of Miocic, who won by unanimous decision. Unfortunately, the bout featured a dosage of controversy, as Miocic landed an inadvertent eye-poke mid-way through the affair that reduced Cormier’s vision and his ability to perform.
