Dana White has revealed there will be a backup fighter for the UFC 289 main event between Amanda Nunes and Irene Aldana. On Tuesday, White revealed that Pena was out of the UFC 289 main event against Nunes and Aldana has stepped in on short notice. Aldana, meanwhile, was supposed to headline the May 20 event against Raquel Pennington, so with that fight off, White revealed Pennington will be the backup fighter for June’s title bout.

UFC president Dana White is not a fan of Kamaru Usman’s callout of Khamzat Chimaev. Usman recently came out and said he would be interested in facing Chimaev his next time out as he thinks it would be a fun fight for the sport. But, he wasn’t sure it would take place at welterweight or middleweight and instead was interested in a catchweight.

The trilogy between Julianna Pena and Amanda Nunes will no longer be happening at UFC 289. UFC president, Dana White took to Instagram to announce that Pena has suffered a broken rib and is out of their scheduled main event fight. However, Irene Aldana has agreed to step up on short notice and will now headline the pay-per-view event for the bantamweight title against Nunes on June 10 in Vancouver, Canada.

Across the last few months, Dana White’s Power Slap venture has earned him a lot of critics. While the NSAC did sanction it, many have wondered whether or not it’s a good addition to the combat sports landscape.

Dana White has announced two more fights for UFC 290. After White did a special announcement announcing several key fights on Thursday, he did it again on Friday with three fights for UFC 290 on July 8 – which serves as International Fight Week. First, White announced that Robert Whittaker will take on Dricus Du Plessis in a title eliminator bout. Now, the UFC boss announced that Dan Hooker will return at UFC 290 against Jalin Turner.

Dana White took to social media and announced several key fights for a number of upcoming UFC events. White took to Instagram Live to reveal some key fights and among them was Gilbert Burns vs. Belal Muhammad, which is slated for five rounds as the new co-main event of UFC 288 on May 6. The fight could serve as a title eliminator which is why it is five rounds, but it’s a big boost to the pay-per-view card which recently lost Oliveira-Dariush.

Alex Pereira won’t be fighting for UFC light heavyweight gold his next time out. After Pereira lost his middleweight title by second-round KO at UFC 287 to Israel Adesanya, he announced he would be moving up to light heavyweight.

UFC President Dana White knows what location and venue the UFC brass are targeting for Jon Jones vs. Stipe Miocic. Jones recently got fight fans buzzing on social media when he teased having a retirement fight against Miocic inside Madison Square Garden in New York City. Following a UFC Fight Night event in Kansas City, White confirmed to reporters that MSG is the planned venue for Jones vs. Miocic, but it’s not a lock (h/t MMAJunkie).

UFC President Dana White was none too pleased about Clay Guida faking his retirement following a unanimous decision loss to Rafa Garcia. Guida hung in tough during his UFC Kansas City showdown with Garcia. Ultimately, “The Carpenter” was being timed with ease and had no answer for his opponent’s jab. Garcia earned the unanimous decision victory and after the fight, Guida took off his gloves, suggesting that he was ready to announce his retirement. Even Garcia appeared to be emotional as he showed respect to Guida.

The fight went the distance and “Gamebred” fell short via unanimous decision. After the fight, Masvidal took his gloves off and announced his retirement.

Pereira (7-2 MMA) and Adesanya (24-2 MMA) met for a second time (in MMA) in the headliner of tonight’s event in Miami, Florida. The pair had previously collided at UFC 281 in November of 2022, with ‘Poatan’ defeating ‘The Last Stylebender‘ via fifth-round TKO to claim the promotion‘s middleweight title.

Dana White was well-aware that Endeavor was going to purchase the WWE. It was revealed this week that the parent company of the UFC purchased the WWE and the plan was to merge them into one sports property valued at over 20 billion. The news surprised many but White said he met with Vince McMahon to talk about the deal as he had questions about what it was like to be owned by Endeavor.

The UFC 287 press conference was briefly halted earlier today due to questions about Jorge Masvidal and Kevin Holland. ‘Gamebred’ and Trail Blazer’ are set to return this Saturday night, but not against each other. In the co-main event of UFC 287, Masvidal is expected to face Gilbert Burns. Meanwhile, Holland is slated to face Santiago Ponzibbio on the main card in a welterweight showcase.
