Bellator featherweight champion Cris Cyborg believes retired two-division UFC champion Daniel Cormier is a “shill” for the Las Vegas-based promotion. Speaking on a recent episode of ESPN’s DC and Helwani show, Cormier divulged that he was paid a $1M bonus after his 2015 decision loss to Jon Jones. He also revealed that he received a $400,000 bonus after he defeated Anthony “Rumble” Johnson in 2015.

Undefeated Irish boxing superstar Katie Taylor is looking at a potential cross-code matchup against MMA legend Cris Cyborg. Taylor is a perfect 15-0 in professional boxing since making her debut in 2016 and is next set to take on Delfine Persoon later this month for the lightweight title. Taylor’s promoter Eddie Hearn doesn’t want Taylor to look too far ahead of her opponent, but he recently admitted that she’s interested in several matchups including a fight against Cyborg.

Bellator is planning on returning to action this fall with four events over the next two months including title fights featuring Cris Cyborg and Ryan Bader. Bellator officially announced this week it will be returning on July 24 at the Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut, and according to British MMA journalist Gareth Davies, the promotion will in fact hold four events at the Mohegan Sun from July to September. Davies spoke to the organization’s president Scott Coker, who confirmed to him that Bellator is planning to hold four events for its comeback, with fights featuring Cyborg and Bader.

At UFC 250 last weekend, Amanda Nunes defended her featherweight title against Felicia Spencer by unanimous decision victory. Despite tallying her 11th consecutive victory and her status as a two-division champ, “The Lioness” reportedly only earned $450,000 from the headliner fight.

Bellator featherweight champion Cris Cyborg has called out her former boss Dana White and his proposed “fight island.” In response to the coronavirus pandemic, all Bellator and UFC fights have been postponed. However, that hasn’t stopped the UFC president from doing whatever it takes to resume business. White has even claimed he’ll host several upcoming events on private island. He says it is currently in the works and expects to host live events from the island as soon as next month.

Bellator women’s featherweight champion Cris Cyborg threw some shade at former MMA fighter Shayna Baszler after she lost to Becky Lynch at Wrestlemania 36. Cyborg previously fought Baszler in EliteXC way back in 2008 when Baszler was still a mixed martial artist. Cyborg won that fight via second-round TKO at a time when Baszler was one of the best women’s MMA fighters in the world. Cyborg, of course, went on to dominate the competition in EliteXC before signing with Strikeforce, where she became a world champion. She then went on to win titles in Invicta FC, the UFC and in Bellator.

In doing so, Cyborg also added her fourth promotional world title, adding the Bellator belt to a trophy case that already included Strikeforce, Invicta and UFC belts. Feeling refreshed with her new promotion unlike her time in the UFC, Cyborg put on a performance to remember in her Bellator debut. It was an incredible performance by Cyborg, who displayed her trademark striking and punching power to go along with her underrated grappling game. Budd was game for the fight but ultimately wasn’t in the same class as Cyborg.

When she steps into the Bellator cage for the first time, Cyborg will be adding another world-class MMA promotion to her resume, which already includes the UFC, Invicta FC, and Strikeforce. She will also be re-uniting with her old boss, Scott Coker. Much was made about the relationship between Cyborg and UFC President Dana White as the two were at odds for several years, and didn’t seem to see eye-to-eye when she was with the company. While the UFC was certainly the biggest stage for Cyborg’s global brand, she had already cemented herself as one of the greatest fighters of all-time, and working with a familiar face in Coker should also come with a breath of fresh air.
