YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul and his rival, former MMA fighter Ben Askren, stared off at the final weigh-in ahead of their boxing match. After months of anticipation, Paul and Askren meet this weekend in a huge boxing match. The paydays were released on Friday, with Askren set to take home at least $500,000 for this fight and Paul set to take home a minimum of $690,000. Later in the day, the two fighters made weight, with Paul coming in at 191.5lbs and Askren weighing in at 190lbs. After both fighters made weight, they had their final staredown before Saturday’s fight.

Askren came up as a wrestler in college before making the transition into mixed martial arts during the late 2000s. Since 2009, Askren has been competing at the highest level of the sport in both Bellator and in the UFC, racking up a 19-2, 1 NC record overall in MMA. However, after losing to Demian Maia and Robbie Lawler in the UFC in 2019, he decided to walk away, citing a hip issue.

Former UFC welterweight Ben Askren says that rival Jorge Masvidal “looks like a dope” for supporting his upcoming boxing opponent Jake Paul. Askren is set to take on Paul in a boxing match on Triller on April 17. As part of his training camp, Paul brought in Masvidal to help train with him for Askren. As well, Masvidal made a guest appearance during the recent Triller press conference when Paul called him up on FaceTime. These two have been going back-and-forth on social media as of late, arguing about the famous flying knee about UFC 239. It’s still one of the most incredible highlight-reel finishes we have ever seen in mixed martial arts. Even though it was two years ago, there isn’t a day that goes by that Masvidal or fans don’t remind him of the flying knee.
