UFC featherweight TJ Laramie shared graphic images of his thigh infection after announcing UFC 268 withdrawal due to an MRSA diagnosis. Laramie was scheduled to fight Melsik Baghdasaryan on the UFC 268 preliminary card on November 6 at Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York, in what would have been a battle between featherweight prospects on the rise. Unfortunately for Laramie, the fight will no longer take place because he has been diagnosed with MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcu) and he will no longer be able to fight as scheduled next month.

Marvin Vettori claims he took home 30% of Paulo Costa’s fight purse at UFC Vegas 41, adding he would have finished ‘The Eraser’ if he “wasn’t as big”. The former middleweight title challengers, Costa (13-2 MMA) and Vettori (18-5-1 MMA), had initially agreed to compete at their natural fight weight of 185lbs for Saturday’s event. However, in the early days of fight week the Brazilian revealed he would not be able to make weight and thus the contest was moved up to light heavyweight.

Brandon Moreno was “sad” to learn that his former teammate Henry Cejudo was training Deiveson Figueiredo for their upcoming trilogy at UFC 270. The reigning UFC flyweight champion, Moreno (19-5-2 MMA), and former title holder Figueiredo (20-2-1 MMA) are set to collide for a third time on January 22.

Former UFC middleweight title challenger Nate Marquardt returned to action at tonight’s XMMA event in Miami opposite Valdir Araujo. Marquardt (36-19-2 MMA) returned from a near four-year hiatus from the sport at August’s Titan FC 71 event where he picked up a first round submission victory over Michael Cora. The former Strikeforce welterweight champion was looking to build off the momentum of that victory this evening against Araujo.

The Octagon remained in Nevada for today’s UFC Vegas 41 event, a fourteen-bout fight card headlined by Paulo Costa vs. Marvin Vettori. The main event proved to be a thrilling five round war. Marvin Vettori was able to get off the better volume throughout the twenty-five minute affair, but Paulo Costa landed some big shots and made a huge push in the final five minutes. After five rounds of heart-pounding action Vettori was awarded a much-deserved unanimous decision victory from the judges in attendance.
