Jon Jones is now training at Greg Jackson’s affiliate gym as he has found a new gym. After Jones was arrested and charged with domestic violence after the 2021 UFC Hall of Fame ceremony, Mike Winkeljohn announced he was kicking “Bones” out of the gym. He said the former UFC light heavyweight was able to return barring him making significant changes to his life.

Khabib Nurmagomedov slammed Justin Gaethje over his comments that he deserves the next lightweight title shot. In the lead-up to UFC 268, both Gaethje and Michael Chandler were vocal in saying this fight was a number one contender bout. They both certainly had a point as Gaethje was ranked two and Chandler was five. In the end, it was “The Highlight” who earned a clear-cut decision in one of the best fights of the year.

The card is headlined by heavyweights Chris Dauakus and Derrick Lewis, and this fight between Thompson vs. Muhammad will likely be part of the evening’s main card. There are several more notable matchups on this card such as Raphael Assuncao vs. Ricky Simon at 135 and Diego Ferreira vs. Mateusz Gamrot at 155.

UFC bantamweight contender Frankie Edgar believes that the referee stopped his fight too early against Marlon Vera at UFC 268. Edgar suffered a brutal third-round knockout loss when Vera connected on a brutal front kick to the jaw that sat Edgar down to the mat. However, when speaking on the Champ and The Tramp podcast, Edgar admitted that he feels referee Todd Anderson stopped the fight too early. As far as Edgar goes, he was still in the fight, and when he looks at some of the other fights at UFC 268 that weren’t stopped, he was unhappy the referee did so.

Costa was supposed to fight Marvin Vettori last month in a middleweight bout that headlined UFC Vegas 41, but Costa showed up to fight week heavy. The fight was later turned into a light heavyweight contest, while Vettori won by decision. Although it was an awesome fight, the fact that Costa missed weight put a bit of a damper on his performance. Speaking to MMAFighting.com’s Guilherme Cruz in a recent interview, Aldo panned his fellow Brazilian for showing up to fight Vettori heavy and off weight.

The UFC’s official rankings have been updated following this past Saturday’s UFC 268 card, and Marlon Vera was one of the biggest winners. Vera was one of the stars of the night as he knocked out Frankie Edgar in the third round of their main card bantamweight bout for the biggest win of his MMA career. Not only did Vera get the biggest win of his career and score a $50,000 bonus for “Performance of the Night,” but he also saw himself make a big leap in the UFC rankings. Following his win over Edgar, Vera moved from No. 13 at bantamweight up to No. 11. That might not seem like a huge move, but when you look at how deep and stacked the UFC bantamweight division is, the fact Vera is this close to the top-10 now is actually extremely impressive. As for Edgar, he dropped down all the way to No. 12 in the division with the defeat.

Former UFC fighter Diego Sanchez commented on Dana White’s claim that he paid a UFC prelim fighter $750k, calling them “lies.” Sanchez reacted after White said in a recent interview that there is a preliminary fighter in the UFC who is making $750,000 a fight. Fans immediately began speculating who that fighter could be, and ultimately it appears to be Michael Chandler according to several reports. Although Chandler technically wasn’t on the prelims of UFC 268, he was on the undercard, which White was likely referring to when he made this comment. Either way, White’s claims that a preliminary card fighter is banking $750,000 have been scrutinized.
