Former UFC champion Michael Bisping has taken a shot at Jake Paul following some of his recent boxing callouts. Ever since Paul listed him as a potential opponent in a future boxing match, Bisping has been more than happy to go back and forth with the YouTuber-turned-boxer on social media. “The Count” has been retired for four years now following his run in mixed martial arts but if the money is right, there’s every chance he could take Paul up on his challenge.

Chael Sonnen says Leon Edwards has been offered his show and his win money to step aside for Conor McGregor to face Kamaru Usman. Edwards (19-3 MMA) is expected to challenge Kamaru Usman (20-1 MMA) for the UFC welterweight title later this summer, likely in July. The proposed title fight would be a rematch of a bout that occurred over six years ago when both men were prospects in the promotion. The pair originally met in December of 2015, with ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ earning a unanimous decision victory over ‘Rocky’, thanks in large part to his wrestling.

Montana De La Rosa always wanted to rebook her fight against Maycee Barber. De La Rosa and Barber were set to meet at UFC 269, but Montana was forced out of the bout with an injury. Yet, shortly after, Barber suffered a similar injury and once that happened, the hope for De La Rosa was to get the fight rebooked.

Brendan Schaub seems to think that a proposed lightweight bout between Conor McGregor and Alexander Volkanovski makes sense. ‘The Great’ is fresh off a victory over Chan Sung Jung at UFC 273 earlier this month. Following the bout, the UFC featherweight champion opined that a move upwards might make sense. With not many matchups left at 145-pounds, he’s begun discussing a move to lightweight.

Jorge Masvidal is convinced that reigning UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman is beatable. Usman has not lost in the UFC and is currently riding a 19-fight win streak. He has also defended his belt five times, so with that, he is atop the pound-for-pound rankings. However, for Masvidal, he says that doesn’t mean Usman is untouchable, as he says the champ’s striking and striking defense can be exposed.

Gilbert Burns will be getting a big fight his next time out. At UFC 273, Burns took the risk of fighting rising star Khamzat Chimaev, this despite being ranked much higher than ‘Borz’. The fight ended up being much closer than many anticipated, with the Swede edging out a close decision victory. While it was ultimately a losing effort for ‘Durinho’, Dana White was so impressed by his performance that he paid Burns his win bonus.

Chase Sherman has had a whirlwind of a week, to say the least. Sherman was officially released from the UFC just four days ago, partly due to him and his manager asking for it. He says Mick Maynard wanted to keep him on the roster, but they had no fights for him so the plan was to go back to BKFC and get some fights there and then re-sign with the UFC in the future.

The battle between friends turned foes was anything but competitive. With the exception of a fourth-round knockout, Covington dominated en route to a unanimous decision victory.

Brendan Schaub doesn’t believe Alex Pereira will be granted a title shot with a win over Sean Strickland. It has been announced that Sean Strickland (25-3 MMA), one of the UFC’s top 185-pounders, will be taking on rising star Alex Pereira (5-1 MMA) at UFC 277 on July 30th, 2022 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
UFC Rankings Update: Dustin Poirier leapfrogs Jon Jones on P4P list

In the latest update of the UFC rankings Dustin Poirier has overtaken former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones on the pound-for-pound list. Poirier (28-7 MMA), last fought at UFC 269 in December 2021 against Charles Oliveira (32-8 MMA) in the lightweight main event. It was Oliveira who beat ‘The Diamond’ during that match-up. However, prior to that loss Poirier met and defeated Conor McGregor (22-6 MMA) twice during 2021.
