UFC star Conor McGregor is in incredible shape as he continues his road back to the Octagon following his leg break. Last summer at UFC 264, Conor McGregor suffered a nasty leg injury in his trilogy bout with Dustin Poirier. Ever since then fans have been wondering when we’re going to see him back in the Octagon, with some even thinking he may retire altogether – largely because he doesn’t actually have anything left to prove.

Several pro fighters took to Twitter after ESPN announced that Nate Diaz vs. Khamzat Chimaev was on tap to headline UFC 279. Earlier this afternoon MMA journalist Brett Okamoto reported that Diaz vs. Chimaev would serve as the five-round welterweight headliner on September 10th at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Former two-division UFC champion Daniel Cormier says he is still haunted by Jon Jones’ failed drugs tests. Cormier (22-3 MMA) and Jones (26-1 MMA) had arguably the biggest rivalry in Ultimate Fighting Championship history between 2014 and 2017.The pair met on two occasions during that time, with Jon Jones emerging victorious in both contests.
Khamzat Chimaev opens above a -1000 favorite ahead of his UFC 279 fight against Nate Diaz

Khamzat Chimaev has opened as a massive favorite ahead of his UFC 279 main event fight against Nate Diaz. It was revealed on Tuesday that Chimaev vs. Diaz has been verbally agreed to headline the pay-per-view card on September 10 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The fight will be five rounds at welterweight, while it will also be Diaz’s last fight of his UFC contract.
The UFC parts ways with three more fighters

The UFC has parted ways with another three fighters according to recent reports from @UFCRosterWatch on ‘Twitter’. It should also be noted that it has not been confirmed if all of these moves were outright releases or simply contracts which were not renewed.
Aljamain Sterling vs. TJ Dillashaw moves from UFC 279 to UFC 280

Aljamain Sterling and TJ Dillashaw will have their title defense a month later. Sterling and Dillashaw were targeted to fight on September 10 at UFC 279, however, after the UFC made Nate Diaz vs. Khamzat Chimaev for that event, the promotion moved the bantamweight title fight. According to Kevin Iole of Yahoo! Sports, Sterling vs. Dillashaw will now serve as the co-main event of UFC 280 on October 22 in Abu Dhabi. The main event of the card will see Charles Oliveira vs. Islam Makhachev for the vacant lightweight title.

Following the victory, Cejudo decided to call it quits and retire from MMA. Almost immediately following the retirement, the former champion teased a return.

Nate Diaz will be fighting out his UFC contract at UFC 279. According to ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, Diaz will headline UFC 279 on September 10 against Chimaev. The event will take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, and will serve as the final fight of Diaz’s contract.

Muhammad Mokaev is excited to return to London and perform in front of his hometown fans again. Mokaev made good of his UFC debut back in March as he submitted Cody Durden in 58-seconds. After the win, Mokaev wanted a quick turnaround but it was hard for him to get an opponent until former LFA flyweight champ Charles Johnson, who he previously trained with, agreed to fight.

Bryce Mitchell is opening up about fighting Yair Rodriguez, as long as he can get a title shot after he wins. Mitchell, (15-0 MMA), has no losses in his pro career. The 27 year old last fought in March of this year where he defeated Edson Barboza (22-11 MMA) at UFC 272.

Volkan Oezdemir is excited to make the walk to the Octagon and get the bad taste of his last fight out of his mouth. Oezdemir is set to face Paul Craig at UFC London as he enters the fight on a two-fight losing skid. He’s coming off a decision loss to Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 267 in a fight he is not happy with as he believes it’s the worst performance of his career.
