Dana White has nothing but praise for Cory Sandhagen. In the main event of UFC Nashville, Sandhagen took on Rob Font on just a few weeks’ notice after Umar Nurmagomedov had to withdraw from their fight due to an injury. Sandhagen entered the bout with a nagging elbow injury and in the first round he hurt his arm even further which forced him to turn to his wrestling.

Israel Adesanya set to defend middleweight title in main event of UFC 293 against Sean Strickland

Israel Adesanya will be defending his middleweight title in Australia. UFC president Dana White announced on Tuesday that Adesanya is set to take on Sean Strickland in the main event of UFC 293 on September 9. The event will take place in Sydney, Australia.

Former UFC bantamweight champion T.J. Dillashaw will likely be back if all goes well. The 37-year-old last competed at UFC 280 against Aljamain Sterling last Fall. The fight was T.J. Dillashaw’s first in over a year, missing time after a win over Cory Sandhagen due to injury. Prior to that win over ‘The Sandman’, the former champion famously missed over two years of his career due to failing a drug test.

Sean Strickland is insinuating that he will be fighting Israel Adesanya for the middleweight title at UFC 293. While initially it looked like an Adesanya vs. Dricus Du Plessis (20-2 MMA) was in the cards, after the latter’s TKO victory over Robert Whittaker (24-7 MMA) at UFC 290, then came the announcement that ‘Stillknocks’  was injured and wouldn’t be available to fight in September.

Cory Sandhagen has said he’s spoken to UFC president Dana White following his uneventful win over Rob Font last weekend. On Saturday night in the main event of UFC Nashville, Cory Sandhagen defeated Rob Font via unanimous decision. It was a dominant performance and win, but it wasn’t particularly exciting. A lot of fans and pundits criticized Sandhagen, but the contender did eventually note that he was suffering from a torn tricep and a bicep injury.

In the main event of UFC Nashville, top-10 bantamweights met in a 140lbs catchweight fight as Cory Sandhagen took on Rob Font. Sandhagen entered the scrap coming off back-to-back wins over Marlon Vera and Song Yadong in precious fight night main events. Prior to the back-to-back wins, Sandhagen had lost two in a row to Petr Yan for the interim belt and a controversial split decision to TJ Dillashaw. Font, meanwhile, snapped his two-fight losing skid last time out as he scored a first-round knockout over Adrian Yanez.

Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler may not happen after all. With McGregor getting closer to a return after breaking his leg against Dustin Poirier, he was booked to coach TUF 31 against Chandler with the two expected to fight later. However, the fight has yet to be announced or agreed to as McGregor is still not in the USADA testing pool.
