Tim Elliott is able to bask a bit in the glow of a big win in Chicago, but Aaron Pico did not have the same stroke of luck on August 16th. At UFC 319, both Elliott and Pico entered the cage on the same night but exited the octagon with dramatically different outcomes. Elliott fought against former UFC title challenger and former Rizin titleholder Kai Asakura and, as one of the bigger betting underdogs on the card, secured a submission win in the waning moments of the second stanza.

Bryan Battle has been released from the UFC. Battle was moving back up to middleweight to face Nursulton Ruziboev at UFC 319 after he missed weight at welterweight the fight before. However, despite moving up 15lbs in weight, Battle tipped the scales at 190lbs, missing weight by four pounds, and the fight was called out.

Sean Brady has taken aim at Ian Machado Garry for turning down the UFC Vancouver fight. Brady claims he was offered to headline UFC Vancouver against Garry in a pivotal fight at welterweight. However, Brady claims the Irishman ducked him, which led to the promotion making the Anthony Hernandez vs Reiner de Ridder fight as the main event.

Aljamain Sterling isn’t gung-ho about his fight with Brian Ortega being scheduled for five rounds. Sterling and Ortega are set to collide on Saturday in the co-main event of UFC Shanghai. Despite not being the headliner, “Funkmaster” vs. “T-City” will be contested for five rounds if necessary. This doesn’t sit well with the former UFC Bantamweight Champion.

In the co-main event of UFC Shanghai, featherweight contenders throw down as Brian Ortega takes on Aljamain Sterling. Heading into the bout, Ortega is a +200 underdog while the former bantamweight champ is a -265 favorite on FanDuel. Ahead of the scrap at UFC Shanghai, BJPENN.com reached out to several pro fighters to get their predictions for the intriguing featherweight bout, which is a five-round co-main event. The pros agree with the oddsmakers as they expect Sterling to get his hand raised and get closer to a title shot.

Last Saturday night, Khamzat Chimaev finally reached the top of the mountain in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He defeated Dricus du Plessis in dominant fashion to become UFC middleweight champion, and in doing so, he achieved a goal that many always expected him to achieve ever since he first debuted in the promotion.

As we know, the Ultimate Fighting Championship is set to return to Vancouver, Canada later this year. It was always expected to be a big card and now, we have a few fight announcements that should raise a few eyebrows. This includes the main event of the evening, which will be contested by Reinier de Ridder and Anthony Hernandez.
