Recently, fighters have come out and told ‘horror stories’ about dealing with the former Ultimate Fighting Championship matchmaker. Yet, for Sonnen, he says every single interaction he had with Joe Silva was positive.

Lyman Good and Belal Muhammad were supposed to fight back at UFC 249 on April 18. However, Good was forced to pull out of the bout due to an ‘injury’, and the fight card was later canceled entirely. Once the card was officially canceled, Good revealed that he pulled out the contest due to contracting COVID-19. The welterweight contender did overcome it and once he did, he told the UFC to get him back in there ASAP and preferably against Muhammad.

Former UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub revealed he eavesdropped on a phone call with former UFC matchmaker Joe Silva, who he said bashed Rory MacDonald. A number of former UFC fighters such as Gray Maynard, Eddie Alvarez, and Gerald Harris have recently spoken out against Silva, the long-time UFC matchmaker. Schaub is the latest ex-UFC fighter to speak negatively against Silva, explaining how he was a “complete prick” to the fighters and saying he was nothing more than a “Sherdog forum troll.”

UFC President Dana White says that streaking UFC heavyweight Francis Ngannou contender could serve as an alternate for the upcoming title fight between Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier. Miocic and Cormier have fought twice previously. Cormier won the pair’s first bout, in 2018, by first-round knockout, claiming the heavyweight title for himself. Miocic then swiped the title back from Cormier in their 2019 rematch, surviving some early adversity to win via fourth-round TKO. The pair are scheduled to meet for a third time at UFC 252 on August 15.

Former UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos believes the timing is perfect for a showdown with Conor McGregor. Dos Anjos was scheduled to defend the lightweight title against McGregor in 2016, but ultimately had to pull out of the contest with a foot injury. He was then replaced by Nate Diaz, and never had the opportunity for a rescheduled fight with the Irishman.

The official UFC rankings have been updated after last weekend’s under-the-radar UFC on ESPN 10 card, and as expected, there have been some big changes. Most notably, former UFC strawweight contender Cynthia Calvillo made a gargantuan climb up the flyweight rankings after defeating the division’s No. 1 contender, Jessica Eye, in the cards main event. She’s now ranked No. 2 in the division, behind former title challenger Katlyn Chookagian.

With the UFC’s outfitting deal with Reebok potentially coming to an end, the UFC could sign a deal with a new outfitting company. Dana White has a few ideas in mind. Making an appearance on The Schmozone podcast with The Schmo and Helen Yee, the UFC boss was asked about the deal with Reebok coming to an end and who might possibly be next in line to be the uniform sponsor for the UFC.

Justin Gaethje has been practicing his wrestling ahead of his fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov and has suffered a nasty cut in the process. Gaethje, who is expected to battle Nurmagomedov in September in a unification of the lightweight title, took to social media to show off his nasty cut. He said he will need a few stitches after catching an accidental headbutt in training.

Two-weight champion Amanda Nunes is flirting with the idea of retirement, but UFC President Dana White isn’t ready to see his dominant champion walk away just yet. Following her win over Felicia Spencer at UFC 250, Nunes became the first ever fighter to successfully defend both of her titles while holding them simultaneously. After her win over Spencer, Nunes opened up about the possibility of retirement saying, she’s achieved everything that she has wanted to do.

UFC interim lightweight champion Justin Gaethje says that Dan Hooker is “getting merked” by Dustin Poirier when they fight in a few weeks. Gaethje, who is coming off of a fifth-round TKO win over Tony Ferguson at UFC 249 to take home the title, chimed in on a comment that Hooker said recently suggesting that he will finish Poirier. Gaethje knows Poirier well considering he was knocked out by him two years ago, and he didn’t agree with Hooker’s assessment of the upcoming fight.

Harris is the latest in a long list of fighters who have taken to social media in recent days to recall their encounters with Silva, the long-time UFC matchmaker. Although Silva was praised during his run at the UFC for him match-making skills, we are now finding out that there was a lot more going on behind the scenes than fans and media were privy to. Fighters such as Gray Maynard, Eddie Alvarez, and Roland Delorme have all taken to social media in recent days to tell the true story about their experiences with Silva.

Josh Emmett knows all he needs to do is land one punch to end the fight and it’s no different ahead of his co-main event scrap against Shane Burgos. Emmett will be making the walk for the first time since UFC Sacramento last July where he scored a first-round TKO win over Mirsad Bektic. Since the fight, Emmett was looking to return a lot sooner. But, he couldn’t get a fight booked and was then planning on testing free agency before inking a new deal.
