UFC welterweight contender Darren Till has been fighting at the highest level of the sport for quite a while now, and as such, he’s well accustomed to the stresses and nerves that coincide with this level of competition. Speaking on his official Instagram account, Till reflected on the moment that immediately precedes each fight, when a fighter gets their hands taped backstage, in quiet anticipation. He also shared a photo from right before his September, 2018 welterweight title fight with the former champion Tyron Woodley, which he lost by second-round submission.

Tomorrow night the UFC will advance into new territory with the interesting looking UFC Uruguay card. The event will be headlined by a women’s flyweight title fight between champion Valentina Shevchenko and challenger Liz Carmouche. The bout will actually be a rematch of a 2010 fight, which Carmouche won via controversial doctor stoppage.

They are: Georges St-Pierre, Michael Bisping, Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone, Demian Maia, and as of last Saturday, lightweight veteran Jim Miller. Miller earned his 20th career win when he submitted fellow veteran Clay Guida in the co-main event of UFC Newark.

Colby Covington is a big fan of President Donald Trump, and has gotten plenty of face-time in with the Commander In Chief and his family over the last year. His most recent interaction with the Trumps occurred last weekend at UFC Newark. The First Family was in attendance for Covington’s main event showdown with former UFC welterweight champion Robbie Lawler, and even visited him in his locker room in the moments before his fight.

The manager of Jorge Masvidal says that his client has never been offered a fight against Leon Edwards despite reports saying he turned it down. Edwards said an interview this week that the UFC offered him a fight against Masvidal and that he accepted it, yet Edwards claims Masvidal turned the fight down. UFC president Dana White said earlier this week that Colby Covington would get the next title shot against Kamaru Usman, and said the promotion would offer Masvidal another opponent, which most assumed to be Edwards.

In a video posted to Instagram, Perry and his wife “reenacted” Covington’s recent victory over Robbie Lawler, accusing the former interim champion of having “pool noodle punches.”

While it was expected to see some movement at welterweight after Colby Covington thumped Robbie Lawler in the card’s main event, the most notable change occurred in the light heavyweight division, where former champion Daniel Cormier has inexplicably climbed back into the top spot under the reigning champ Jon Jones, surpassing Thiago Santos.

He discussed the appeal of this matchup on the latest episode of his  Believe You Me podcast, explaining that the timing simply makes sense after Robbie Lawler fell onto a three-fight skid with a loss to Colby Covington last weekend, and Darren Till looks to rebound from two straight stoppage losses.

Valentina Shevchenko is set for her second title defense when she takes on Liz Carmouche in the main event of UFC Uruguay. The lead up to the fight has been interesting given the two fought back in 2010, when Carmouche beat Shevchenko by TKO after the doctor stopped the fight. Carmouche says it was a legit stoppage, while the current champion Shevchenko says it was a lucky strike and the fight shouldn’t have been stopped.

The champion is coming off of a knockout win over Jessica Eye at UFC 238, while the challenger is on a two-fight winning streak. The Kyrgyzstani champion is a -1200 favorite, while her American challenger is a +700 underdog.
