Rua (27-12-1 MMA) was most previously seen in action this past July where he scored a split-decision victory over Antonio Rogerio Nogueira. The former UFC and PRIDE champion, Shogun, had gone 2-0-1 over his last three fights overall, with his lone draw in the time coming to Craig.

The opening odds have been released for December’s highly anticipated lightweight scrap between Charles Oliveira and Tony Ferguson. Late yesterday evening, ESPN’s Brett Okamoto revealed on Twitter that a lightweight bout between Tony Ferguson and Charles Oliveira was being finalized for UFC 256 on December 12.

The Octagon remains in Las Vegas for tonight’s UFC 255 event, a twelve-bout fight card headlined by Deiveson Figueiredo vs. Alex Perez. Figueiredo (19-1 MMA) captured the promotions vacant flyweight title this past July on Fight Island when he scored a first-round submission victory over Joseph Benavidez.

UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya went off on manager Abe Kawa in a social media rant, accusing the agent of being a “clout trout.” Adesanya will be providing analysis for next weekend’s Mike Tyson vs. Roy Jones Jr. boxing exhibition match. However, according to Kawa, his client Jorge Masvidal was offered the opportunity to be an analyst first and he turned it down. Adesanya did not like what Kawa said and took it as an opportunity to reveal that in 2018, Kawa tried to recruit Adesanya to his stable of fighters at First Round Management. He posted screenshots, too.

GLORY kickboxing ace Alex Pereira, the lone man to knockout Israel Adesanya, made his LFA debut on Friday night and scored another nasty KO. Pereira is the GLORY kickboxing middleweight and interim light heavyweight champion at the moment, but he is also an MMA fighter with a 2-1 record. Alex recently spoke to BJPenn.com and indicated that he was planning on taking more MMA fights, as he disclosed that he can take two fights a year with LFA as part of his current GLORY deal. On Friday night at LFA 95, Pereira took advantage of that clause in his contract when he made his promotional debut against Thomas Powell, a fight where Pereira scored a crazy KO.

PFL star Kayla Harrison made her Invicta FC debut on Friday night and put on an incredible performance, defeating Courtney King via TKO. Harrison was allowed to go over from PFL to Invicta FC to take a fight while the Professional Fighters League is on hiatus in 2020. In her first fight with Invicta FC, Harrison made her professional women’s featherweight debut against King in what was a huge mismatch. The fight turned into a bloody mess as Harrison dominated King with her incredible grappling skills while bloodying her up on the mat for a second-round TKO.

UFC welterweight Mike Perry (14-6 MMA) has had a rough couple of weeks ahead of his UFC 255 contest with Tim Means (30-12-1 MMA). Ten days ago, ‘Platinum’ took to Twitter where he revealed that he still had twenty-five pounds to cut for his fight with Means on November 21.

UFC president Dana White said that a Valentina Shevchenko vs. Amanda Nunes trilogy is possible, as is a superfight against Weili Zhang. Shevchenko, the reigning and defending UFC women’s flyweight champion, puts her belt on the line this weekend at UFC 255 when she takes on Jennifer Maia in the co-main event. Shevchenko has gone a perfect 5-0 since moving down to 125lbs and looks to hold the belt for a long time. Should she get by Maia this weekend as the betting odds suggest she will, the calls for a tougher matchup for Shevchenko in her next fight will be high.

UFC commentator Jon Anik has suggested an interesting solution to MMA’s weight-cutting issues after a grievous scale fail from Mike Perry. Perry is slated to take on Tim Means on the main card of UFC 255 this Saturday. On Friday morning, he stepped onto the scale to weigh in for the fight, but missed the 171 welterweight limit by a significant 4.5 pounds.

UFC president Dana White says his promotion has not spoken to pound-for-pound great Jon Jones about a move up to the heavyweight division. Jones vacated the UFC light heavyweight championship in the summer with a planned move up to heavyweight in the hopes of becoming a rare two-division champion. In recent weeks, Jones has been posting videos of him bulking up in anticipation of a move up in weight. However, we still haven’t gotten an official announcement from the UFC in regards to his debut in the promotion’s heaviest weight class, which figures to come in 2021.

On Saturday night, the UFC will promote its second last pay-per-view of 2020 in the under-the-radar UFC 255 card. The card will be topped by a pair of title fights, both in the 125-pound flyweight division. In the main event, men’s flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo will look to make the first defense of his title reign against the streaking Alex Perez. UFC 255 co-headling honors, meanwhile, will go to women’s flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko and her underdog opponent, Jennifer Maia.

Paul Felder isn’t going anywhere. According to a report from MMA Fighting, the lightweight contender has signed a new, multi-fight deal with the UFC. Paul Felder last fought in the main event of UFC Vegas 14 last Saturday, when he lost a split decision to former UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos. However, Felder accepted the fight on just five days’ notice—replacing dos Anjos’ original opponent, Islam Makhachev—so he hardly lost any ground in defeat.
