Amanda Nunes knows she can’t overlook Megan Anderson in the co-main event of UFC 259. Nunes is a massive -1200 favorite as many expect her to steamroll Anderson as she has done to her past opponents. At featherweight, the Brazilian has been unstoppable with a quick KO over Cris Cyborg and a dominant performance over Felicia Spencer. However, Nunes knows Anderson poses some problems with her size and reach advantage so she can’t overlook her.

UFC featherweight superstar Max Holloway said that he’ll let the fans decide who he fights next, pointing out “that’s who we fight for.” Holloway is coming off of a record-setting performance over Calvin Kattar back on UFC Fight Island in January. It was one of the most incredible displays of striking we have ever seen inside the Octagon and it puts Holloway’s stock at an all-time high. UFC president Dana White has suggested that Holloway could fight the winner of UFC 260’s Alexander Volkanovski vs. Brian Ortega world title fight, but as of right now Holloway does not have his next fight booked. Although a title shot could be on the horizon, it’s possible that Holloway could shoot for potential money fights instead, coming off of the Kattar win.

Khabib Nurmagomedov believes no one will beat his pupil, Islam Makhachev. Makhachev is the main training partner of Nurmagomedov and many call him his protégé. Since “The Eagle” retired, he also passed along the torch to Makhachev who many inside AKA believe is destined to be a future champion. Although he is still ranked outside the top-10, Nurmagomedov believes his fellow Dagestani native will be the champion by the end of 2021.

Daniel Cormier doesn’t think Jon Jones will have knockout power at heavyweight. For months now, Jones has been bulking up for a heavyweight move. “Bones” wants to be prepared for the move as it’s expected he will face the winner of Stipe Miocic vs Francis Ngannou 2 in the summer. However, when the former light heavyweight champion moves up to heavyweight, Cormier doesn’t think he will be able to KO anyone.

UFC heavyweight contender Ciryl Gane believes that he has all the skills necessary to become the world champion by the end of next year. Gane improved to a perfect 8-0 in MMA when he defeated Jairzinho Rozenstruik via unanimous decision in the main event of UFC Vegas 20. “Bon Gamin” is 5-0 in the UFC and the win over Rozenstruik will elevate him into the top-five. He has a complete skillset and many analysts believe that the 30-year-old Frenchman is going to be a serious problem in the heavyweight division for many years to come. There are many people who believe that Gane has all the skills to make a run for the UFC heavyweight championship, which will be on the line at March’s UFC 260 when Stipe Miocic meets Francis Ngannou.

Petr Yan is confident he will remain the UFC’s bantamweight champion after Saturday night. In the first of three title fights on the stacked pay-per-view card, Yan is set to defend his belt against Aljamain Sterling. It’s a very intriguing matchup as the Russian is a striker while Sterling should have a grappling advantage. However, Yan isn’t worried about Sterling’s grappling.

UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya is hoping to create an iconic and historic moment alongside Kamaru Usman and Francis Ngannou. Adesanya, who now calls New Zealand home, was born in Nigeria. Usman, the UFC welterweight champion, was also born in Nigeria, while Ngannou, the UFC’s top heavyweight contender, is a native of Cameroon.

Masvidal, the UFC’s No. 4 welterweight contender, was on Spanish-language commentary duty for last weekend’s Canelo Alvarez vs. Avni Yildirim boxing match. After Canelo’s lopsided win, Masvial partook in an interview with Boxing Express, during which he claimed he’ll be challenging Usman for the UFC welterweight title in September.

UFC light heavyweight contender Magomed Ankalaev wants to get a top-five opponent after picking up six sixth straight win at UFC Vegas 20. Ankalaev defeated Nikita Krylov via unanimous decision in the co-main event of Saturday’s UFC Vegas 20 card. Although he wasn’t able to get the finish, Ankalaev was mostly able to impose his will in the striking and wrestling following a quick start by Krylov. It was a solid performance by Ankalaev, who figures to take over Krylov’s No. 8 spot in the UFC light heavyweight rankings. Ankalaev is 6-1 overall in the UFC and has won his six fights in a row. He appears to be a serious contender and in a wide-open division, is likely only one or two more wins away from getting a title shot at 205lbs.

UFC middleweight contender Paulo Costa claimed that he drank too much wine the night before his title fight with Israel Adesanya at UFC 253. The then-undefeated Costa was considered a live dog to defeat the champion Adesanya, but he proved to be an easy night at the office for the champion, who picked him apart with strikes from the outside before knocking Costa out. It was a fantastic performance by Adesanya, for sure, but it was still hard to believe Costa couldn’t offer more resistance. And now, the Brazilian is speaking out and explaining just why he performed so poorly, blaming it on a night of drinking, a decision that Costa surely wishes he hadn’t made.

There have been plenty of rumors about Masvidal fighting Usman again in a rematch after he stepped up last year at UFC 251 and lost a unanimous decision on short notice. Despite the loss, Usman handpicked Masvidal as his next opponent, and the two are likely hoping they sell another million-plus PPVs for their rematch. Speaking to Boxing Express, Masvidal confirmed that his rematch with Usman is being targeted to take place in September.
