Gegard Mousasi could move up to 205lbs to become double champion, says Scott Coker

Middleweight Gegard Mousasi could move up to light heavyweight next in order to become a double champion says Bellator president Scott Coker. Mousasi bested Bellator welterweight champion Douglas Lima via unanimous decision in the main event of Thursday night’s Bellator 250 card. Mousasi was able to get the better of Lima on the feet and on the mat as he won the decision and earned the vacant Bellator middleweight champion, his second time winning the organization’s title at 185lbs. Mousasi is now 5-1 overall in the Bellator cage and a winner of 10 of his last 11 fights.

Mousasi and Lima battled over the Bellator Middleweight Championship in Uncasville, and after a hard fought affair, it was the veteran Mousasi who captured the belt in a unanimous decision victory. The win marked the second time that Mousasi had held the title with his first reign coming to an end at the hands of Rafael Lovato Jr.

Speaking to the media ahead of his final UFC fight, MMA legend Anderson Silva says he has “no regrets” about his past PED suspensions. The 45-year-old Silva is generally regarded as one of the best MMA fighters of all time but one argument that is used against him is his previous sanctions for performance-enhancing drugs. In 2015, Silva defeated Nick Diaz via unanimous decision at UFC 183 but the fight was overturned to a No Contest after Silva tested positive for steroids by the Nevada State Athletic Commission. He was also fined and suspended for one year.

According to a report from Sports Business Journal, UFC 254 sold 675,000 pay-per-views, making it the fifth biggest pay-per-view card of the year behind UFC 251: Usman vs. Masvidal (1.3M), UFC 256: McGregor vs. Cerrone (1M), UFC 253: Adesanya vs. Costa (700,000) and UFC 249: Ferguson vs. Gaethje (700,000).
