Alexa Grasso isn't opposed to Valentina Shevchenko rematch: "Of course we can do this again"

If the UFC brass decide to book an immediate rematch between Alexa Grasso and Valentina Shevchenko, don’t expect the newly crowned UFC Women’s Flyweight Champion to shy away. Grasso was a sizable underdog going into her title fight with Shevchenko at UFC 285 this past Saturday night. Early on in the fight, Grasso had success in the striking game, but Shevchenko used her grappling to stifle Grasso’s attack. Ultimately, Grasso did what champions do and adjusted, utilizing some slick grappling of her own to secure a rear-naked choke finish in the fourth round.

Reigning UFC Bantamweight Champion Aljamain Sterling and Henry Cejudo had a backstage run-in during the UFC 285 event. Sterling and Cejudo are being targeted for a 135-pound title clash at UFC 288 on May 6. The event is set to take place inside the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. Both men were in attendance for UFC 285 and had to be separated after exchanging verbal jabs face-to-face. The footage was posted on ESPN MMA’s Twitter account.

Actor Jake Gyllenhaal has gotten the attention of the MMA community with his appearances throughout UFC 285 fight week. The Hollywood actor filmed a weigh-in face off with former UFC fighter Jay Hieron on Friday and the two even completed filming a UFC fight scene for the movie “Road House” on Saturday night. The film will also feature former UFC Lightweight and Featherweight Champion Conor McGregor.

Newly minted UFC Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones has some advice for Stipe Miocic. Jones competed for the vacant UFC Heavyweight Championship in the main event of UFC 285. His opponent was Ciryl Gane, and “Bones” had no trouble getting Gane to the ground and locking in a guillotine choke to force the tap. After the fight, Jones turned his attention to Miocic and said for his sake he hopes he’s been training.

Ciryl Gane has spoken out after being submitted by Jon Jones in the first round of their UFC 285 main event. The bout was contested for the vacant UFC Heavyweight Championship. Not only was this Jones’ first pro MMA bout since February 2020, but it was also his heavyweight debut. It only took Jones a little over two minutes to submit Gane via guillotine choke. While Jones was the betting favorite going into his title fight with Gane, few expected “Bones” to make it look so easy given that he hadn’t been able to secure a finish since late 2018. Even Gane stared at Jones in disbelief once the fight was over.
