For many, Jon Jones is the greatest fighter of all-time. He became the youngest UFC champion when he defeated Shogun Rua and has never lost his belt inside the Octagon. But, he has been stripped of his title in the past due to legal issues and USADA violations. Since returning at UFC 232 to reclaim his light heavyweight title, Jones has been active. He has defended his belt against Anthony Smith, Thiago Santos, and Dominick Reyes. Yet, in his last two fights, he narrowly won both fights, as he edged out split decisions. Many have said it is only a matter of time until “Bones” loses at light heavyweight. So, who has the best chance of being the one to finally beat Jon Jones?

Daniel Cormier wouldn’t be upset if his retirement fight has no fans in attendance. Cormier is expected to have the trilogy with Stipe Miocic later this year for the heavyweight belt. Yet, many wondered if it would happen given the fact “DC” said if the pandemic lasted until the fall he’d retire.

The UFC’s next event is starting to come together and UFC 249 reportedly has found a home. On Tuesday it was reported by ESPN that the promotion would call their next event UFC 249, although the event had previously been postponed and is now happening on the same date that UFC 250 was scheduled. With their event in place, the UFC now reportedly has a home for the fight card to take place.

Former UFC welterweight champ Tyron Woodley recently expressed interest in a fight with UFC middleweight champ Israel Adesanya. Adesanya did not take particularly kindly to this suggestion.

Before the coronavirus pandemic thrust the world into a period of unprecedented chaos, the UFC had two big pay-per-views scheduled for April and May: UFC 249, scheduled for April 18 in Las Vegas, and UFC 250, scheduled for May 9 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Both were canceled.

In a recent interview with the UFC, Anderson Silva divulged that he intended to retire from MMA before his first fight with Chris Weidman. “I want to stop, I want a time for myself, to stay with my family,” Silva claims he told UFC brass at the time. “I have been doing this for years and I’m losing contact with my kids. I’m only training and training, it’s not working for me anymore.”

MMA legend Wanderlei Silva has called out fellow veterans of the sport Dan Henderson and Vitor Belfort for bare-knuckle fights. Silva signed with BKFC last fall but has yet to make his debut with the promotion. At the time of the signing, Silva said he was interested in fighting Belfort. Six months later and Silva still wants to fight Belfort but he’s also interested in fighting Henderson, as well.

Welterweight veteran Matt Brown says he hopes the UFC can re-book him against Carlos Condit in a fight that MMA fans have wanted to see for years. Brown and Condit have been two of the most violent welterweights for well over a decade. The UFC has attempted to book them against each other twice in the past, first at UFC on FOX 9 in December 2013, and again at UFC on FOX 29 in April 2018. Both times the fight fell through due to injuries Brown suffered in training.

UFC bantamweight champ Henry Cejudo was originally expected to make the first defense of his title against Jose Aldo at UFC 250. When that card fell through due to the coronavirus pandemic, however, Cejudo was rescheduled for a title fight with former champ Dominick Cruz on May 9. According to his manager Ali Abdelaziz, Cejudo is still hoping to defend his title against Aldo after his fight with Cruz.

Felicia Spencer was looking forward to fighting Amanda Nunes for the featherweight belt on May 9. Yet, that will no longer be the case after the champion announced she won’t be competing at the event as she can’t train properly due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Although the news came out on Monday, Spencer said she got told late Friday night the fight was off. When she received a text message telling her she wouldn’t be competing on May 9 she had mixed emotions.

Darren Till hasn’t fought since November, and from the sounds of it, the British middleweight contender is starting to get the itch. Speaking on his official Instagram account early on Tuesday morning, Till pined for the rush he gets when he’s walking out for a fight.

UFC middleweight contender Marvin Vettori has declared that he wants a rematch with the current champion of the division Israel Adesanya. Vettori went toe to toe with “The Last Stylebender” back in April 2018 at UFC Glendale, and after an incredibly tight fight, Adesanya walked away with a narrow split decision victory.

Dana White has high praise for the former UFC fighter Phillipe Nover and his coronavirus heroics in New York. Yesterday, Phillipe Nover was cast under the UFC president’s spotlight. The 36-year old fought for the UFC between 2008 until 2017 and is the former Ring of Combat lightweight champion. Since hanging up his gloves, Nover has turned to nursing. He is currently a registered nurse working at a hospital in his hometown of Brooklyn, New York. He is part of the rapid response unit which is on the front line treating COVID-19 patients.

The betting odds for UFC star Conor McGregor to become the next President of Ireland have been slashed over the last few weeks. McGregor has spent the last few weeks gaining quite a few plaudits from around the world as a result of his response to the coronavirus pandemic. After putting forward €1 million of his own money to buy medical equipment for hospitals around Ireland, it also appears as if his own nation is coming around to the controversial former champion, too.

European light heavyweight prospect Chi Lewis-Parry says he is willing to give Jon Jones life advice despite their previous rivalry. Lewis-Parry is an experienced kickboxer for GLORY and one of the better free agent light heavyweight prospects not in a major organization. Last May, Lewis-Parry got into a shouting contest at an autograph signing by Jones in the UK before security removed him from the situation. He later explained that his beef with Jones dated back to when Lewis-Parry was a member of Daniel Cormier’s training camp before the Jones rematch.

UFC light heavyweight Ion Cutelaba had his appeal denied in his controversial TKO loss to Magomedov Ankalaev at UFC Norfolk. Cutelaba protested the stoppage with the Boxing, Martial Arts, and Professional Wrestling Advisory Board in Virginia just days after the controversial stoppage at UFC Norfolk, which many fellow fighters, fans, and media rated as one of the worst stoppages ever in a UFC fight. Cutelaba was absolutely livid with the stoppage and his team promptly appealed it.

Israel Adesanya has yet to lose in MMA including being 8-0 inside the Octagon where he defended his middleweight belt for the first time at UFC 248. There, he edged out a decision win over Yoel Romero in a lackluster fight. Although “The Last Stylebender” has looked impressive he has some tough challenges ahead of him. When the UFC returns, Adesanya’s next title defense will come against undefeated Paulo Costa. If he gets past that, he could fight the likes of Jared Cannonier and Darren Till among others. Although some think Costa could earn a knockout win, it is another undefeated fighter in Edmen Shahbazyan who poses the biggest problems.
