UFC president Dana White confirmed that the UFC, in conjunction with Endeavor and its partner companies, has donated $250,000 to the Australian Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery Fund. Wildfires have ravaged Australia, killing people and wildlife, destroying homes, and laying waste to the environment. The MMA community has taken notice of the wildfires, with UFC superstar Jorge Masvidal heading to Australia in February and donating proceeds from his visit to controlling the fires. Now White says the UFC is also helping out.

UFC president Dana White isn’t happy about the lack of respect that is being shown to Donald Cerrone in the lead-up to his UFC 246 main event against Conor McGregor. We’re now less than two weeks away from McGregor’s return to the Octagon where he will face off against the aforementioned Cerrone in a welterweight bout. While many fans are questioning the Irishman’s decision to come back at 170 pounds, the overriding feeling is one of excitement as he prepares to put on his gloves and compete for the first time since his UFC 229 loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov.

The Fertitta brothers and their business partner Dana White, bought the UFC in 2001 to save it from the brink of bankruptcy. The Fertittas purchased the UFC for $2 million and created Zuffa LLC, the parent entity responsible for the UFC. With the introduction of the Ultimate Fighter on Spike TV and the rise of MMA stars including Anderson Silva and Chuck Liddell, the organization has gone from strength to strength.

The UFC has always caught flack for fighter pay, which tends to pale in comparison to what athletes make in other similarly dangerous sports like boxing or football. According to UFC President Dana White, however, fighter pay has skyrocketed over recent years — in 2019 in particular. “Money is always the topic,” White said in an interview with ESPN, the official broadcast partner of the UFC. “But as the sport continues to go like this [gestures upward], so does the numbers. When you become a star, when you become a world champion or somebody that can… I mean, ask some of these world champions the difference in the last year. They’ll feel it.”

On Jan. 18 in the main event of UFC 246, the Irishman in McGregor will make his long-awaited return to the Octagon to battle Cerrone. The fight will also be at welterweight as White says neither wanted to cut down to 155 pounds.

The bout, which took place back in July 2013, was for the UFC Middleweight Championship. Dana White recently made headlines when he suggested that a win for Conor McGregor over Donald Cerrone at UFC 246 could lead to a rematch between ‘Mystic Mac’ and Khabib Nurmagomedov. In order for that rematch to happen, the UFC President says that Khabib Nurmagomedov would also have to defeat Tony Ferguson at April’s UFC 249 event in Brooklyn.
