Former two division UFC champion Conor McGregor will return to the Octagon on January 18 for a welterweight fight with Donald Cerrone. It will mark the Irish superstars first fight since he suffered a submission loss to reigning UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229.

UFC President Dana White recently opened the door to a blockbuster rematch between UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and former two-division champion Conor McGregor. The catch, the UFC boss explained, is that Nurmagomedov will have to successfully defend his belt against Tony Ferguson in April, and McGregor will have to defeat Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone at UFC 246 in January.

The New York Times broke the story on two separate allegations of sexual assault earlier this year, and while some fans chose to turn a blind eye to it or immediately jump to defending McGregor, plenty of others wanted to see justice take its course in one way or the other before McGregor made his return.

Dana White has confirmed speculation that a deal is in the works with Floyd Mayweather. Last month, rumours surfaced that the retired boxer would be making a cross-over into MMA. The undefeated 42-year old experienced an MMA clash first hand when he faced the UFC former two-division champion, Conor McGregor in a boxing bout. Mayweather won the 2017 bout by TKO and hasn’t fought since. However, last month he revealed that he has two fights planned for 2020 including a UFC cross-over bout. Rumours were bolstered as photos showed Mayweather sitting at a Basketball game accompanied by Dana White.

On Wednesday, UFC President Dana White took to social media to inform fight fans that the remains discovered do in fact belong to Blanchard. The UFC boss also shared his condolences with Harris, the rest of Blanchard’s family, and every member of the combat sports community who was praying for Blanchard’s safe return home.

Northcutt officially signed with ONE nearly a year ago now after parting ways with the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
