It’s always disappointing when a fight we’re expecting to be a barnburner turns out to be a dud. UFC President Dana White is not immune to that disappointment. Speaking during a recent AMA on Reddit, the UFC boss was asked to name a few fights that he expected to be great but ended up being stinkers.

UFC president Dana White says that Jorge Masvidal and his flying knee finish over Ben Askren at UFC 239 is his favorite KO of all time. There are hundreds of amazing knockouts that have taken place inside the Octagon, but perhaps none of them have been as crazy as Masvidal’s KO over Askren last summer at UFC 239. Masvidal was able to set a UFC record with the fastest KO of all time when he flatlined the undefeated Askren with a brutal flying knee in just five seconds. Askren was out cold right away from the blow, while the KO saw Masvidal explore into superstardom.

UFC president Dana White said during a Reddit AMA on Wednesday that The Ultimate Fighter reality television show will be returning “soon.” It was assumed by many that The Ultimate Fighter was dead after the show flamed out in recent years, with low television ratings and little support from fans and media. When White introduced the Contender Series, it seemed like a natural progression from TUF, and many thought it was an indication the UFC would be doing away with TUF for good.

UFC President Dana White has announced an exciting new contest to raise money for four great charities during the coronavirus pandemic: Feeding America, Meals On Wheels, World Central Kitchen, and No Kid Hungry. White has organized this contest in partnership with Hollywood star and UFC fan Halle Berry. The contest will be organized like a raffle, and the prizes are pretty interesting.

That being said, White recognizes that many business are feeling the pinch during these unprecedented time, and forecasted that many members of the MMA media will soon find themselves on the chopping block. White discussed the topic in a recent interview with Yahoo! Sports, first assuring that all of “his people” are safe from potential layoffs.

UFC president Dana White believes the new UFC 249 card that is set to take place May 9 in Jacksonville, Florida, is the best card the UFC has ever booked. The full UFC 249 card was announced this week. The card is littered with big names both on the main card and on the prelims including two title fights at the top of the billing. On paper, it’s a very deep card that should be a welcome reprieve for fight fans who haven’t seen a live UFC fight in almost two months. It’s so good on paper that White even believes UFC 249 might be the best card the promotion has ever put together.

UFC president Dana White doesn’t anticipate have crowds at a UFC event anytime soon, saying he doesn’t expect a live gate “for a very long time.” White has been adamant all along that the UFC’s show would not be affected by the coronavirus pandemic. But that didn’t stop several fight cards in March and April from being canceled. White did everything he could to hold the original UFC 249 card on April 18 at Tachi Palace in Leemore, California, but ultimately the UFC was forced to stand pat and not hold the event. The promotion is now looking to make a return to ESPN+ at the new UFC 249 card on May 9 in Jacksonville, Florida, though without a crowd present.

Speaking during a Friday Instagram live session with ESPN reporter Brett Okamoto, shortly after announcing the full UFC 249 card, UFC President Dana White dropped a few new details about his much discussed Fight Island plan. While White is hosting three consecutive events in Jacksonville starting on May 9, those events will only feature American-born fighters and fighters currently residing in the United States. In an effort to book fights featuring athletes living outside the US, White has repeatedly teased plans to promote an event on a private island.

According to a report from veteran MMA reporter Dave Meltzer, UFC 249 is set to take place on May 9 in Jacksonville, Florida. There have been rumors the UFC intended to hold UFC 249 in Florida, and now we have a city. Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer said that the event will take place at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville. The UFC has not yet made this official, but Meltzer is well-connected and considering Florida seemed like a likely outcome all along, this appears to be the place where UFC 249 will finally land.

The UFC has officially canceled four events due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The promotion also confirmed that the events are canceled and not postponed as they had been saying earlier on. The four events canceled are UFC Nebraska on April 25, UFC Oklahoma City on May 2, UFC 250 on May 9 and UFC San Diego on May 16.

UFC President Dana White held a conference call with Fighters on Friday afternoon addressing the Coronavirus Pandemic while fielding questions. According to a report from MMAJunkie‘s Nolan King, White took time to hear from his athletes in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic for approximately 25 minutes. After an initial statement, White opened up the floor for written questions.
