Veteran UFC featherweight Cub Swanson says he broke his hand in the first round before KOing Daniel Pineda in the second round at UFC 256. Swanson was coming off of a long layoff after tearing his ACL, and the sportsbooks listed him as the underdog against Pineda in this fight. Despite being counted out by the oddsmakers yet again — he was also the underdog in his unanimous decision win over Kron Gracie last year — Swanson had another tremendous performance. After a tough first round where he suffered some heavy damage via Pineda leg kicks, Swanson stormed back in the second round and scored a beautiful knockout win.

Daniel Pineda doesn’t think the judges will be needed for his UFC 256 fight against Cub Swanson. After Pineda finished Herbert Burns at UFC 252, the hope for the 35-year-old was to get a ranked opponent or someone near the rankings. And, he ended up getting his wish as he was offered perennial contender, Cub Swanson.

Veteran UFC featherweight Cub Swanson says he is open to cross-divisional fights with Anthony Pettis, Urijah Faber, and Jose Aldo. Swanson’s return to the Octagon was recently announced as he will take on Daniel Pineda next month at UFC 256. Swanson has been a member of the UFC roster since 2011 and has been one of the top-15 ranked fighters in the division for most of that time. However, he suffered a four-fight losing skid between 2017 and 2019 before finally snapping it with a “Fight of the Night” decision win over Kron Gracie last fall.

An exciting matchup between veteran featherweights Cub Swanson and Daniel Pineda has been added to December’s UFC 256 pay-per-view card. Pineda broke the fight himself on his social media as he took to his Instagram late on Wednesday evening to reveal the upcoming matchup with Swanson, which promises to be a banger. The two will square off in almost exactly one month from today when they meet at UFC 256, which takes place on December 12 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Swanson said he wants to give the fans a fight they want to see, and there’s no doubt that fans would love to see a rematch with Choi as the fight is considered by many to be a modern classic.

Cub Swanson’s December submission loss to Brian Ortega marked the final obligation on his most recent UFC contract. Despite the fact that this loss depleted the leverage he had when negotiating his new contract, he says he was still able to hash out a favorable new deal with the promotion. That said, Swanson claims he did receive some significant offers from other promotions. Ultimately, however, he decided to re-sign with the UFC, not just because they offered a pay increase, but because of the promotion’s longstanding involvement with the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA).
