Corey Anderson and Jon Jones have been going back and forth in recent weeks and today more fuel was added to their rivalry. Late last night, it was reported that Jon Jones was charged with battery. It is alleged that the UFC’s light heavyweight champion touched a strip club waitress inappropriately, and then forced her onto his lap as he kissed her neck, and put her in a chokehold. The waitress then says she told Jones to stop on numerous occasions, but he never did.

Honestly I don’t care. I’m just really happy that I’ve inserted myself among the top two guys in the world or three guys in the world if you keep D.C. in there.”

UFC light heavyweight contender Corey Anderson fought on that card, beating Ilir Latifi by unanimous decision, and was not exactly pleased about this last-minute inconvenience. Given that this was not the first bit of drama caused by Jon Jones over the last few years, it should come as no surprise that Corey Anderson has some strong opinions on the UFC light heavyweight champ — and on the way he’s treated by the UFC.

On Saturday night, on the main card of the relocated UFC 232 card in Los Angeles, California, Corey Anderson and Ilir Latifi collided in what was widely regarded as a number-one contender fight in the exciting UFC light heavyweight division. The winner, it was believed, would be well positioned for a fight with the winner of Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson’s UFC 232 main event title fight. The first round of this fight was admittedly a bit slow. Latifi seemed to land the hard shots, including a few nasty calf kicks, but Anderson had some success with his jab and his kicks.

The UFC Hamburg co-main event occurred in the light heavyweight division, where former title challenger Glover Teixeira looked to extend his streak to two-straight against Corey Anderson, who replaced the injured Ilir Latifi on short-notice. As expected, the wrestler Anderson sought to ground the knockout puncher Teixeira early in this fight. The American was able to succeed on a number of takedowns in the first round, though Teixeira was able to return to his feet each time. Anderson’s final takedown of the round nearly ended in disaster, as he dove in into a deep guillotine choke, and might not have survived had the round not ended.

In the card’s main event, we’ll see British striking specialist Jimi Manuwa take on American wrestler Corey Anderson in a compelling light heavyweight style clash. The co-main event, meanwhile, will occur at welterweight, where fan favorite slugger Alan Jouban will take on Icelandic grappling specialist Gunnar Nelson. The rest of the main card, meanwhile, will be composed of a bantamweight bout between retiring British veteran Brad Pickett and late replacement Marlon “Chito” Vera, and a clash of featherweight prospects in England’s Arnold Allen and Finland’s Makwan Amirkhani.
