Chael Sonnen and former UFC champion Francis Ngannou nearly came to blows in a street fight. ‘The Predator’ is fresh off his return to combat sports earlier this month in Saudi Arabia. There, Francis Ngannou competed in his second boxing match, against former champion Anthony Joshua. While ‘The Predator’ nearly upset Tyson Fury in his first appearance in the ring, his second fight was brutal.

Chael Sonnen has revealed that he was taken by security to an undisclosed location in Miami following threats from Jorge Masvidal. Sonnen is currently in Miami, Florida for the UFC 299 ‘O’Malley vs. Vera’ pay-per-view event which takes place tomorrow, Saturday March 9th in the Kaseya Center.

Jorge Masvidal famously promised to retire, with a loss to Gilbert Burns last April. The former UFC title challenger kept his word, after losing to ‘Durinho’ by unanimous decision.

UFC employees such as Michael Bisping and Chael Sonnen will likely be testifying in April. In 2014, several former fighters including the likes of Nate Quarry and Cung Le began suing the UFC. The claim made by the former athletes is that the promotion has illegally abused its power by operating effectively as a monopoly in MMA. They secured dominance by buying out competitors such as PRIDE and Strikeforce, enabling them to pay as little as 13% of revenue.

UFC analyst Chael Sonnen doesn’t seem to appreciate Jon Jones’ latest remarks. ‘Bones’ is currently on the sidelines healing from a pec injury. Jon Jones suffered the injury just two weeks out from facing Stipe Miocic at UFC 295 and was pulled from the card as a result. In turn, the promotion booked Tom Aspinall vs. Sergei Pavlovich for the interim heavyweight title.

UFC CEO Dana White has admitted that he’s been having a hard time booking a headliner for the promotion’s most important show of 2024. He’s got the main event and co-main event left to figure it out. While the card has shaped up quite nicely, there is pressure to ensure there is a main event worthy of UFC 300.

Some have been skeptical of the bout ever taking place given “Borrachinha’s” history with unfortunate fight removals.

Instead, Jorge Masvidal seemingly split the difference and booked a trip to the ring against longtime MMA fighter Nate Diaz.

Earlier this week, Jorge Masvidal took to social media and appeared to announce that he was coming out of retirement. While there’s been no confirmation as to what exactly that means, many are speculating that he could be doing so in order to compete at UFC 300. It would make sense, given that he’s a blockbuster name in mixed martial arts, and the promotion clearly wants to make UFC 300 as stacked as possible.

Alas, that hasn’t come to fruition, as the masses continue to get frustrated over this stalemate between the promotion and McGregor.
