UFC featherweight fighter Ryan Hall released a statement following his much-needed victory over Darrick Minner at UFC 269. Hall entered this fight against Minner, a fellow grappler, coming off of an absolutely brutal KO loss to Ilia Topuria earlier this year at UFC 264. For Hall, he was unbeaten in the UFC heading into that Topuria fight, which really stalled his momentum in the stacked UFC featherweight division. But for Hall, he was looking forward to getting back into the Octagon and righting those wrongs, and he got to do that on Saturday against Minner.

New UFC women’s bantamweight champ Julianna Pena offered former champ Amanda Nunes an immediate rematch following her crazy upset at UFC 269. Pena submitted Nunes in the second round in what was one of the craziest upsets we have ever seen in MMA history. After Nunes won the first round, Pena was able to get the better of Nunes on the feet in the second round, and then she got her to the ground and choked her out. It was an absolutely amazing showing by Pena, who proved that she was a worthy challenger for the title. Still, there are many people who believe this was a bit of a fluke and they want to see a rematch as soon as possible, and Pena is all for that happening.
Kai Kara-France reacts after knocking out Cody Garbrandt at UFC 269

UFC flyweight contender Kai Kara-France reacted after brutally knocking out former bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt at UFC 269. Kara-France entered the fight as the underdog despite being much more proven in the UFC flyweight division. As Garbrandt is a former UFC champ, he got the respect of coming into this fight as a small betting favorite. However, it was apparent quickly that the odds were wrong and that this was Kara-France’s fight to lose. Needed just one round to get the job done, Kara-France dropped Garbrandt twice with punches before finishing him via TKO.
Sean O'Malley reveals rib injury sustained during UFC 269 training camp

UFC bantamweight contender Sean O’Malley revealed the rib injury that he sustained during his UFC 269 training camp for Raulian Paiva. O’Malley knocked out Paiva in the first round in what was the opening main card bout on the UFC 269 pay-per-view card. It was another amazing performance by O’Malley, who is 3-0 so far in 2021 with knockout wins over Paiva, Thomas Almeida, and Kris Moutinho. For O’Malley, though, he almost didn’t even make it to this fight with Paiva. According to “Sugar,” who spoke to the media following UFC 269, he had a nasty rib injury that he sustained during his training camp. According to O’Malley, he didn’t spar for three weeks.

Former bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt made his flyweight debut against Kai Kara-France at tonight’s UFC 269 event. Garbrandt (12-5 MMA) had made the decision to test the waters at 125lbs following his unanimous decision loss to Rob Font back in May. That setback was Cody’s fourth in his past five fights, with three of those defeats coming via knockout.

The Octagon remained in Nevada for tonight’s UFC 269 event, a fourteen-bout fight card headlined by Charles Oliveira vs. Dustin Poirier. The highly anticipated lightweight title fight produced one of the craziest opening rounds in UFC history. Dustin Poirier was able to drop Charles Oliveira on two occasions and appeared to be cruising towards his much desired title win. However, in round two ‘Do Bronx’ was able to score an early takedown and road out the round on top while dropping elbows. Then, in round three, Oliveira was able to take the back of ‘The Diamond’ and promptly locked in a rear-naked choke to finish the contest (see that here).

Conor McGregor clearly tuned in to watch his former opponent Dustin Poirier challenge Charles Oliveira for the lightweight title at UFC 269. McGregor (22-6 MMA) and Poirier (28-6 MMA) of course have a history. The pair originially met at featherweight way back in September of 2014, with ‘Notorious’ emerging victorious by way of first round knockout. The bitter rivals would collide for a second time in a lightweight contest 6.5 years later at UFC 257, with ‘The Diamond’ exacting his revenge by earning a second-round TKO.

Tonight’s UFC 269 event was headlined by a lightweight title fight featuring Charles Oliveira taking on challenger Dustin Poirier. Oliveira (32-8 MMA) had captured the promotions vacant 155lbs title back in May, when he stopped Michael Chandler with a TKO in the second round. That win marked ‘Do Bronx’ ninth in a row, with eight of those respective victories coming by finish.
