The UFC has shared footage of the unpredictable series of events that resulted in the cancellation of the UFC 279 press conference. Thursday’s presser was cancelled prematurely after “all hell broke loose” backstage, this according to UFC President Dana White.

Conor McGregor congratulated Nate Diaz on making it to the end of his contractual obligations, this while slamming Khamzat Chimaev for missing weight at UFC 279. It was supposed to be Diaz (21-13 MMA) vs Chimaev (11-0 MMA) in the headliner of tonight’s pay-per-view event in Las Vegas. However, ‘Borz’ missed the promotions welterweight limit by a whopping 7.5lbs and the fight was ultimately scratched as Team Diaz would not entertain a catchweight contest.

I’m not surprised mother f**kers! Nate Diaz trashed Dwayne Johnson’s new UFC training shoes during an interview with Megan Olivi. Diaz (21-13 MMA) has had quite the twenty-four hour stretch after being involved in a backstage scuffle at the UFC 279 press conference on Thursday night, followed by his slated opponent Khamzat Chimaev missing weight the following morning. ‘The Stockton Slugger’ would not entertain the idea of a catchweight fight with ‘Borz’ and so the UFC proceeded to book him against Tony Ferguson instead.

Chimaev (11-0 MMA) was slated to face Nate Diaz (21-13 MMA) in the headliner of Saturday’s pay-per-view event in Las Vegas. However, after ‘Borz’ badly missed weight by 7.5lbs, Team Diaz rejected any notion of the fight taking place at a catchweight.

Nate Diaz had some choice words for Khamzat Chimaev and Khabib Nurmagomedov at today’s UFC 279 ceremonial weigh-ins. Diaz (21-13 MMA) was of course slated to collide with Chimaev (11-0 MMA) in Saturday’s pay-per-view event headliner. However, after ‘Borz’ brutally missed the 171lbs limit while weighing-in earlier this morning, the bout was ultimately scrapped as Diaz’s Team found the 7.5lbs weight miss egregious and insulting.

Nate Diaz and Tony Ferguson, and Khamzat Chimaev and Kevin Holland had their first faceoffs ahead of tomorrow night’s UFC 279 card. Diaz was supposed to headline UFC 279 against Khamzat Chimaev at welterweight in a scrap he was a massive underdog in. However, on Friday morning, Chimaev was 7.5lbs overweight and immediately the UFC scrambled to save the card.

Chimaev was set to headline UFC 279 against Nate Diaz in what was going to be a massive fight. It was a big opportunity for Chimaev to face a massive star in Diaz but on Friday morning, it was revealed he was having problems making weight and when he stepped on the scale he weighed 178.5lbs, 7.5lbs overweight.
