Corey Anderson demands title shot against Jon Jones or wants UFC to release him

UFC light heavyweight Corey Anderson is demanding a title shot against UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones or to be released from the promotion. Anderson picked up a massive first-round knockout win over Johnny Walker in the final preliminary fight of the night at UFC 244. Often criticized as a ‘boring’ fighter who only wins decisions, Anderson needed to make a statement at UFC 244 and he did just that. His KO over Walker won him a $50,000 bonus for “Performance of the Night.”

Kelvin Gastelum issues statement following loss to Darren Till at UFC 244

UFC middleweight contender Kelvin Gastelum has issued a statement following his split decision loss to Darren Till in the co-main event of UFC 244. Gastelum lost a split decision when the judges scored the fight 30-27, 27-30 and 29-28 in favor of Till. The one judge who scored the fight for Gastelum drew the ire of fans, media, and fellow fighters as it appeared as though Till comfortably won on points.

New UFC BMF champion Jorge Masvidal was up big on the judges’ scorecards after three rounds in his main event fight against Nate Diaz at UFC 244. The cageside doctor stopped the bout after the third round due to cuts sustained by Diaz, with many fans, media, and fellow fighters arguing it robbed Diaz of a chance to make a comeback. However, it’s clear he would have needed a stoppage now after seeing how far ahead the judges had Masvidal up on the scorecards.

While it was a spectacular performance from ‘Gamebred’, who dropped Diaz on multiple occasions throughout the fight, Masvidal’s performance was seemingly overshadowed by the bouts controversial finish.

Walker (17-4 MMA) entered tonight’s contest having won all three of his fights under the UFC banner by way of first round knockout. In his most previous effort at UFC 235, the Brazilian needed just 36-seconds to put away Canadian Misha Cirkunov.
