John Dodson is looking to make one more run at a UFC title. Dodson fought for the flyweight title twice in 2013 and 2015 but lost by decision to Demetrious Johnson both times. Following the second loss to Johnson, Dodson moved up to bantamweight and has been there ever since.

Diaz’s manager Kevin Mubenga announced this week that his star client is set to make his return to the Octagon in 2021. MMA veteran Nate Quarry claims that he still under contract with the UFC—10 years after his last fight with the promotion. Quarry is a pioneer of mixed martial arts, having made his MMA debut back in 2001 in Extreme Challenge. He fought six fights on the regional scene before being signed by the UFC to compete on the first season of The Ultimate Fighter, though he was injured on the show and replaced by his Team Quest teammate Chris Leben. However, he was signed by the UFC afterward and quickly knocked out Lodune Sincaid, Shonie Carter, and Pete Sell.

UFC middleweight veteran Gerald Meerschaert says it is “disrespectful” that Khamzat Chimaev already has a fight against Demian Maia set up. When asked last week what is next for Chimaev, the star of the UFC’s Fight Island experience in July, UFC president Dana White said the promotion has a unique plan for the Swedish prospect. White said the promotion hopes to book Chimaev against top-10 welterweight contender Demian Maia on Fight Island in October, but before that happens he already has a fight booked against Meerschaert on September 19 in Las Vegas.
Johnny Walker reveals he tested positive for COVID-19

UFC light heavyweight Johnny Walker revealed that he tested positive for COVID-19 but is now healthy and excited to get back into the Octagon. Walker is set to take on fellow light heavyweight prospect Ryan Spann at UFC on ESPN+ 36: Covington vs. Woodley on September 19. But just making it to the fight was an ordeal for Walker, who revealed in an interview with AG Fight that he tested positive for COVID-19 upon his arrival in Ireland for his training camp at SBG under John Kavanagh.

VanZant, a long-time women’s strawweight and flyweight in the UFC, recently signed a big-money contract to join Bare Knuckle FC (BKFC). On Sunday, VanZant’s husband Austin Vanderford revealed that he has been infected with COVID-19 and has tested positive twice for the coronavirus. Unfortunately, it appears that VanZant may have also caught the virus.
