Ray Borg issues lengthy statement after being released by the UFC

Ray Borg has opened up on his UFC release. Borg was cut from the promotion following him pulling out of his August 1 fight against Nathan Maness. Borg has dealt with a ton of problems from a sick child to weight cut issues. So, after pulling out of another fight, the Las Vegas-based promotion decided to cut the former flyweight title challenger.

Former UFC flyweight title challenger Ray Borg has been released by the world’s leading MMA promotion after recently withdrawing from another bout. Borg has had issues making it into the Octagon throughout his career. At both 125lbs and 135lbs, he has missed weight multiple times throughout his career. Injuries have also caused several of his past bouts to fall through. His son Anthony has also been ill which had led to Borg having to withdraw from several fights to take care of him, as well.

UFC on ESPN+ 31 takes place this Saturday and the card has been hit by several last-minute changes including Ray Borg falling off the card. According to MMAjunkie.com, Borg is off the card and out of his bantamweight bout against Nathan Manness for undisclosed reasons. The report says that Manness will stay on the card and take on UFC newcomer Johnny Munoz.

Ray Borg releases statement explaining UFC on ESPN 10 withdrawal

UFC bantamweight Ray Borg released a statement explaining why he withdrew from his fight against Merab Dvalishvili at UFC on ESPN 10. The UFC announced that Borg was out of the fight against Dvalishvili late in the week due to personal issues. Dvalishvili was lucky enough that the UFC was able to find an opponent on super short notice, and he ended up fighting and defeated Gustavo Lopez via unanimous decision in a 140lbs catchweight bout at UFC on ESPN 10. Borg, though, was not so lucky, as he once again was forced to withdraw from a fight inside the Octagon.

Ray Borg among fighters added to May 13 event in Jacksonville

Ray Borg is among the new fighters that have been added to the upcoming UFC card on Wednesday, May 13 in Jacksonville, Florida. Borg will take on Ricky Simon in a men’s bantamweight contest, while a women’s bantamweight bout featuring Sijara Eubanks vs. Sara Moras has also been added to the card. Jeff Fox was the first to report the new matchups.

Ray Borg will no longer be eligible to fight in the flyweight division after being forced by the UFC to move up to bantamweight. “The Tazmexican Devil” Borg has endured trials and tribulations since signing to the UFC in 2014. His fighting career has been hindered with unfortunate illnesses, happenstances and injury. Borg was one of the fighters injured during Conor McGregor’s infamous bus attack targeted at Khabib Nurmagomedov. Borg has also faced many challenges outside of his UFC career. His young son has had multiple brain surgeries due to a condition known as hydrocephalus.

Yet that hasn’t stopped some members of the MMA from sharing there thoughts on USADA — and not all of those thoughts are positive. Three UFC 223 fights canceled due to Conor McGregor's violent rampage

Many are still in disbelief by the actions of Conor McGregor and his crew who attacked a bus full of UFC 223 fighters in New York on Thursday. McGregor and his team can be seen throwing various large objects at a bus that was transporting the card’s red corner fighters. Windows on the bus were shattered and people including Michael Chiesa and Ray Borg were taken to the hospital to get checked on for injuries from broken glass.
