Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone has some advice for teammate Ray Borg

Tom Taylor - September 10, 2017

If things had gone according to the initial plan, 24-year-old flyweight contender Ray Borg would have taken his crack at the seemingly unstoppable UFC flyweight champ Demetrious Johnson in the main event of UFC 215 last night. Regrettably, Borg was forced out of the fight at the very last minute with an illness. While Borg was deemed unfit to compete by the UFC’s medical team, his friend and teammate Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone believes he should have dug in his heels and tried to fight anyway.

UFC 215’s Ray Borg explained how he built the “perfect” fight camp to beat Demetrious Johnson

Tom Taylor - September 7, 2017

This weekend, in the main event of UFC 215, dominant flyweight champion Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson will attempt to make history with an eleventh-consecutive title defense. The man standing in his way will be the 24-year-old Ray Borg. For all Borg’s talent, he’s being counted out the majority of the MMA community, as Johnson is simply viewed as too dominant a force to stop. Borg himself, however, is pure confidence, and that’s in large part due to what he’s calling a “perfect” training camp for the champ.

Ray Borg Willing to Give Demetrious Johnson a Rematch If He Wins at UFC 215

Justin Golightly - September 5, 2017

We are just a couple of days from Demetrious Johnson trying to make history at UFC 215. In lieu of a fight with T.J. Dillashaw, Johnson wanted to continue his journey toward breaking Anderson Silva’s title defense record. He tied the record with 10 defenses after a dominating performance over Wilson Reis, now he looks to beat the impressive stat in his upcoming fight with Ray Borg. It would seem like the road to this record is paved in gold with a giant, neon sign pointing down to the finish line. However, Ray Borg isn’t counting himself out and neither should you. He’s confident enough to go on record saying he’ll give Johnson a rematch when he defeats him. “I’d take my niece to Disney Land, then I’d fight DJ again.” – Ray Borg if he wins at #UFC215 https://t.co/cdrpwfP9kY

Ray Borg has newfound respect for flyweight champ "Mighty Mouse"

Tom Taylor - June 6, 2017

Yesterday morning, UFC flyweight king Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson made waves by releasing a lengthy, anti-UFC statement, slamming the promotion and its president Dana White for trying to force him into a fight with former bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw. In this statement, the champ suggested that he was more interested in fighting established flyweight contender Ray Borg. Since then, Borg has weighed in on the situation. He says he’s gained respect for the champ for striving to fight flyweight contenders rather than seeking more lucrative fights with fighters from other divisions.

UFC flyweight contender explains frustration with potential Dillashaw vs. Johnson fight

bjpenndotcom - May 31, 2017

Top ranked UFC flyweight contender Ray Borg remains on the cusp of a flyweight title shot against pound for pound kingpin Demetrious ‘Mighty Mouse’ Johnson. The top ranked flyweight currently sits at #3 on the UFC’s official rankings behind Joseph Benavidez and Henry Cejudo. While Borg was looking to secure either a fight with Sergio Pettis or Brandon Moreno, or a title shot against the champion, the UFC recently announced that Sergio Pettis would be fighting Brandon Moreno, leaving Borg to seek a title shot.

Demetrious Johnson, TJ Dillashaw and Ray Borg weigh in on complicated situation at flyweight

Tom Taylor - May 24, 2017

Yesterday, we learned that UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt was indeed out of UFC 213, which left his planned opponent TJ Dillashaw without an opponent. With this unfortunate news, an opportunistic Dillashaw re-upped on his previous claims, suggesting that he is keen to drop to flyweight to challenge dominant champ Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson for his belt. Apparently, the UFC is into this idea, and the fight is being seriously considered as the main event of UFC 215 this August in Seattle (in Johnson’s native Washington). While the world seems to be drooling over the possibility of a Dillashaw vs. Johnson flyweight title fight, however, Johnson himself is not so keen on the fight, as he feels Dillashaw would be skipping the line at flyweight. In his opinion, the streaking Ray Borg might be a more fitting opponent for his next defense.

Ray Borg plans to channel Chris Weidman when he fights Demetrious "Mighty Mouse" Johnson

Tom Taylor - May 22, 2017

Earlier this year, in the main event of the UFC’s recent trip to Kansas City, Missouri, UFC flyweight champion Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson defended his title for a whopping tenth-straight time. With this successful defense, which saw him submit BJJ blackbelt Wilson Reis, he tied Anderson Silva’s record for the most consecutive title defenses in UFC history. He now hopes to break that record. At the moment, the opponent for Johnson’s next title fight is not yet known. While bantamweights Cody Garbrandt and TJ Dillashaw have both been suggested as options, the most likely choice seems to be flyweight contender Ray Borg.
