Former UFC champion Conor McGregor has had a number of ‘glorious moments’ inside of the octagon, but there is one that stands atop his list. ‘Mystic Mac’ shocked the MMA world at UFC 194 in December of 2015, when he knocked out longtime division title holder Jose Aldo in just thirteen seconds to become the promotions undisputed featherweight champion.
Gilbert Melendez says Nick Diaz is training again
Adam Martin - June 28, 2019
One of the most popular fighters in the UFC may be on his way back to the Octagon. The last time we saw Nick Diaz fight was in January 2015 where he suffered a decision loss to Anderson Silva at UFC 183. The bout was later ruled a no-contest, this after both men failed drug tests. It’s been over four years since then and we haven’t heard much fight news from the Diaz camp. There were rumors of a Jorge Masvidal matchup back at UFC 235 in March, but that fight never happened. We continue to wait and see if Nick Diaz will ever return, and now, finally, it appears there’s some light at the end of the tunnel.
VIDEO | Max Holloway nails the 'Bottle Cap Challenge,' challenges John Mayer
Tom Taylor - June 28, 2019
The Internet loves a good challenge. From the charitable Ice Bucket Challenge to the potentially lethal Tide Pod Challenge, these things tend to go viral very quickly. If a recent Instagram post from UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway is any indication, the Bottle Cap Challenge could be the next viral challenge to sweep the World Wide Web. This decidedly un-hip sportswriter is admittedly unsure what the Bottle Cap Challenge actually is, but in this instance, it seems to involve a brilliantly measured spinning back kick and an empty bottle of Tito’s Vodka.
Chael Sonnen explains why Jon Jones' DQ loss shouldn't be overturned
Fernando Quiles Jr. - June 28, 2019
Chael Sonnen is not in favor of having Jon Jones’ lone defeat overturned. Jones is widely considered to be the best pound-for-pound mixed martial artist in the world. He has gone 15-0, 1 NC in his last 16 outings and is a two-time UFC light heavyweight champion. That does not include his interim light heavyweight title win. Jones is set to defend his 205-pound gold against Thiago Santos at UFC 239 on July 6.

Tom Taylor - June 28, 2019
Earlier this week, news surfaced that UFC President Dana White is working with the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) to potentially overturn the lone loss on the record of Jon Jones: a 2009 disqualification against Matt Hamill. This controversial loss occurred when Jones unloaded a series of illegal, 12-6 elbows on Hamill, and White — along with UFC commentator Joe Rogan — feels like it should have been ruled a win for the future champ.
Dan Hardy outlines Thiago Santos' path to victory against Jon Jones
Tom Taylor - June 28, 2019
UFC analyst Dan Hardy, like many fight fans, recognizes that Thiago Santos faces a monumental task in his UFC 239 title fight with light heavyweight champion Jon Jones. Jones is far and away the more technical, versatile fighter, which would seemingly leave Santos with few paths to victory. A Thiago Santos victory is, of course, a possibility — however slim.

The commentator thinks the obscenely wealthy former two-division champ is just waiting for something he finds “fun.”

Junior dos Santos explains how he'll beat 'the most dangerous man in MMA today'
Tom Taylor - June 28, 2019
Junior dos Santos is going to have his hands full in the UFC Minneapolis main event, where he will take on arguably the hardest puncher in MMA history in Francis Ngannou. He knows full well how dangerous the task at hand is. “Ngannou is a really strong guy, has heavy hands,” dos Santos told MMA Fighting recently. “I think it’s no exaggeration to say he’s the most dangerous man in MMA today. A punch that connects, even if it only grazes, will knock you out. He’s a dangerous guy and I’m getting ready for that. I know his potential, the danger he offers in the fight, but that’s the type of challenge that excites me.
Luke Rockhold downplays Anthony Smith's win over Alexander Gustafsson
Tom Taylor - June 28, 2019
Earlier this month, in the main event of UFC Stockholm, Anthony Smith picked up arguably the biggest win of his MMA career, submitting three-time light heavyweight title challenger Alexander Gustafsson. In the moments after this loss, Gustafsson announced his plan to retire from MMA — which is why Luke Rockhold didn’t find Smith’s win very impressive. Rockhold has previously been very critical of Smith’s ability, and saw nothing special in his defeat of Gustafsson, who had seemingly lost his will to fight.
Eddie Alvarez shares theory on why he struggles in promotional debuts
Natasha Hooper - June 28, 2019
Eddie Alvarez is a firm believer in the old adage that respect is earned, not given. Despite having a great track record and wins over notable stars including Anthony Pettis and Rafael Dos Anjos, Alvarez is now back to square one in ONE Championship and is ready to earn any respect he receives. Back in March, Eddie Alvarez made his ONE Championship debut against Timofey Nastyukhin. He experienced a first-round TKO at the hands of the Russian fighter. Many fans predicted Alvarez would win and were shocked by the outcome. There were residual expectations coming from his UFC and Bellator careers that not all debuting ONE Championship fighters have to contend with.

And, she even admitted that herself.

Cole Shelton - June 27, 2019
Daniel Cormier did not get the Brock Lesnar fight he so desired. Instead, the heavyweight champion will now rematch Stipe Miocic in the main event of UFC 241. Given “DC” already beat Miocic, he understands what he needs to do to win the fight again. But, the motivation is not the same for this fight, and the heavyweight champion admits that.
