Report: Luke Rockhold could be done with fighting career

Former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold’s fighting career could be coming to an end. Ariel Helwani of ESPN reported on Thursday night that during a conversation with the former champion, Rockhold is considering calling it a career. “I have no interest in fighting right now,” Rockhold told ESPN, and Helwani noted that he also said it is “very” possible he never returns to fighting.

Recently, he opened up about his struggle with drug addiction that put him in a coma and resulted in a prison sentence. He also revealed the shocking revelation that forced him to turn his life around. The 32-year old fighter is facing the undefeated Sean Woodson in a featherweight bout at UFC on ESPN 6. He is coming off two decision losses against Zabit Magomedsharipov and Hakeem Dawodu.

Dana White has said the upcoming BMF title fight between Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz will be a one-time thing, but there are some who believe making this belt a one-off will be a missed opportunity. Anthony Smith is one of those people. Smith is on board with the BMF belt, saying that there could be fans who become just a fan of that title, and will call for more fights to happen around that title. During an appearance on MMA Tonight on Sirius XM, Smith told host Ryan McKinnell that it would be a “huge miss” if the UFC only made it a one-time thing.

PFL tells Ali Abdelaziz not to attend any event until battery case is resolved

Following an incident that took place at a recent Professional Fighters League event earlier this month, the PFL has requested that manager Ali Abdelaziz not attend any events moving forward. Abdelaziz was involved in an altercation with another manager, Abe Kawa, in which Las Vegas Police reported that Abdelaziz struck Kawa in the face with a closed fist. After the police opened up an investigation to the incident, PFL has decided to keep Abdelaziz away from events for the immediate future until the case is resolved. As first reported by Brett Okamoto of ESPN, the PFL has requested that Abdelaziz does not attend any PFL events.

Although it is not a ranked opponent like Greg Hardy has wanted, he knows that time will come. For now, he is focusing on paying his dues and fighting the ‘middle class’ of the UFC like every other person before getting to the top. But, when he gets to the top, he expects to knock those top ranked opponents out.
