Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone has stated he isn’t planning on grappling with Conor McGregor in the main event of UFC 246 this weekend. Instead, the American claims he wants to test the brick-fisted Irishman on the feet. While this comment from Cerrone sounds like good news for McGregor, who is one of the best strikers in the sport, the Irishman seems like he’ll be well-prepared in the event that the American is bluffing.

UFC 246 headliner Conor McGregor believes Jorge Masvidal was fading in the third round of his fight against Nate Diaz at UFC 244. The fight between Masvidal and Diaz for the BMF Championship was certainly a noteworthy occasion, and through the first three rounds it felt like it was living up to the hype in a big way. Alas, courtesy of a doctor’s stoppage due to a Diaz cut, the fight was ended, and many fans believe we were robbed of seeing what would happen in the championship rounds, which is when Diaz tends to come on much stronger.

Islam Makhachev believes Kevin Lee took the easy way out by not fighting him. In the main event of UFC Brasilia, Lee will battle Charles Oliveira which kind of came out of nowhere to many. Especially given the fact, Makhachev and “Motown Phenom” have been going back-and-forth for several months now about a possible fight and it only intensified after Lee knocked out Gregor Gillespie. Both sides seemed interested in the fight but for whatever reasons they could not come to terms.

Conor McGregor is looking to rematch Floyd Mayweather. The two fought back in the summer of 2017 in one of the most hyped combat sports fights of all-time. It paired the biggest MMA star against the biggest boxing star, in the boxing ring where, in the end, it was Mayweather who got the job done.

Bellator champ-champ Ryan Bader will take a break from the heavyweight division as he moves back down to light heavyweight to defend his belt there in April. Bader himself announced Tuesday on his Instagram that he will be moving back down to 205lbs to defend his light heavyweight title. An opponent, date, or venue were not disclosed by Bader, but he told fans to expect news soon.

That, he says, is simply the duty of a UFC champion. “That’s how a champ should do it,” Volkanovski told BJPENN.com, adding that defeating his many featherweight rivals is the best way to cement himself as one of the best ever.

The welterweight and lightweight will have the opportunity to settle their feud — if it still exists — in a grappling match at SUG 11. The grappling promotion, which is the brainchild of former UFC and Bellator star Chael Sonnen, announced this exciting Perry vs. Iaquinta clash on Instagram.

The upcoming UFC Brasilia card now has a main event, and it’s a good one. According to a report from Brazilian publication Combate, the March 14 card will be topped by a lightweight bout between established contenders Kevin Lee and Charles Oliveira. Kevin Lee will enter this contest with a massive, first-round head kick KO of the formerly undefeated Gregor Gillespie in the rear-view. Prior to this win, Lee experienced back-to-back losses at the hands of Rafael dos Anjos and Al Iaquinta. While he has experienced some setbacks recently, he recently sought a fresh start at the famed Tristar gym in Montreal, Quebec, and if his win over Gillespie is any indication, the move is paying dividends. Lee, who previously competed for the interim lightweight title, is 18-5 overall.

The bout will be contested at welterweight but McGregor could receive a lightweight title opportunity with a victory.

There have been a lot of claims flying around across the last few months regarding why exactly McGregor was so off the ball, or at least seemed that way, when he went toe to toe with “The Eagle” in Las Vegas. While the Irishman may be focusing his attention on Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone this week, it definitely seems as if Khabib is still at the forefront of his mind.

And, it appears he has found his opponent as he revealed talks have begun with Manny Pacquiao for a boxing match.

UFC lightweight contender Dustin Poirier is calling for the world’s leading MMA promotion to introduce a weight class at 165lbs. Poirier has fought the majority of his career at the featherweight limit of 145lbs and the lightweight limit of 155lbs. As the sport has evolved, fighters are beginning to learn that cutting a bunch of weight doesn’t necessarily lead to better results. In recent days, Poirier has said that he is open to moving up to the welterweight limit of 170lbs to take on Nate Diaz.
