After seemingly winning the first two rounds, Pereira was disqualified in the third after landing he landed an illegal knee and Sanchez declared himself unable to continue fighting.

If Covington is to be believed, however, he was not at his best on the night of the fight — far from it. Speaking to Christian Robertson on the It’s All About Who You Know podcast, Covington divulged that he was dealing with a serious bout of food poisoning right before the fight — and he’s blaming the UFC’s chefs.

While there has been a lot of negative talk surrounding judging and officiating in combat sports recently, one referee changed the narrative with a heroic and selfless move in a recent Muay Thai bout. Over the weekend at a Muay Hardcore event, Nak Muay So Sovarathana landed a ferocious elbow which sent his opponent Naymar crashing towards the canvas. Referee Sittichai Ineiad used his own body to cushion the fall which could’ve left Naymar bouncing his head off of the canvas.

The sportsbooks have opened up betting odds for a potential bout between UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and top contender Jan Blachowicz. Blachowicz knocked out Corey Anderson in devastating fashion at UFC Rio Rancho to emerge as arguably the No. 1 contender in the UFC light heavyweight division. Jones was in attendance for the event and afterward expressed interest in fighting Blachowicz. Of course, Dominick Reyes could still get a rematch after his close loss to Jones at UFC 247. But after knocking out Anderson it looks like Blachowicz could very well be next in line.

Speaking to  Submission Radio recently, Adesanya’s head coach Eugene bareman claimed the middleweight champ is legitimately interested in climbing all the way to heavyweight to challenge the champ Stipe Miocic in the future.

Yet, this time the stakes were higher as the winner of this fight could very well get the next shot at Jon Jones. In the end, Blachowicz extended his winning streak with a first-round knockout over Anderson.

The UFC 247 prelims did some big numbers on ESPN and ESPN+ in the lead-up to the main card in Houston, Texas on February 8. The big UFC 247 card, which was headlined by Jon Jones vs. Dominick Reyes for the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship, served as the company’s second pay-per-view event of the year. While many fans and pundits were expecting a big drop off from the Conor McGregor vs. Donald Cerrone main event which took place at UFC 246, it seems as if they did better than expected.

Ray Borg will no longer be eligible to fight in the flyweight division after being forced by the UFC to move up to bantamweight. “The Tazmexican Devil” Borg has endured trials and tribulations since signing to the UFC in 2014. His fighting career has been hindered with unfortunate illnesses, happenstances and injury. Borg was one of the fighters injured during Conor McGregor’s infamous bus attack targeted at Khabib Nurmagomedov. Borg has also faced many challenges outside of his UFC career. His young son has had multiple brain surgeries due to a condition known as hydrocephalus.
