UFC lightweight Dustin Poirier has been chasing a fight against Nate Diaz for months, but now he’s finally decided to move on. Speaking on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show on Monday, Poirier said that UFC matchmakers Sean Shelby and Mick Maynard told him that Diaz and his camp have not responded to their requests for him to fight Poirier, and have told “The Diamond” to move on.

MMA referee Marc Goddard has spoken publicly for the first time about the controversial stoppage in the Kamaru Usman vs. Colby Covington fight at UFC 245. Goddard stopped the welterweight title fight with just 50 seconds left in the fifth round in what was up until the point of the stoppage a very close fight. Heading into the final round, one judge had the fight tied up 38-38 while the two other judges had it 39-37 for Usman and 39-37 for Covington, who felt the fight was stopped early.

Jimmy Crute is looking to return to the win column at UFC Auckland when he battles Michal Oleksiejczuk. Crute is coming off a first-round submission loss to Misha Cirkunov at UFC Vancouver where a win would have put him in the top-15. In the fight, the Aussie was close to finishing it but he says he let his emotions get the better of him.

Michael Pereira is not happy with the way his fight with Diego Sanchez ended. The pair fought in the co-main event of last Saturday’s UFC Rio Rancho card on ESPN+. After seemingly winning the first two rounds, Pereira was disqualified in the third after landing he landed an illegal knee and Sanchez declared himself unable to continue fighting.

While there has been a lot of negative talk surrounding judging and officiating in combat sports recently, one referee changed the narrative with a heroic and selfless move in a recent Muay Thai bout. Over the weekend at a Muay Hardcore event, Nak Muay So Sovarathana landed a ferocious elbow which sent his opponent Naymar crashing towards the canvas. Referee Sittichai Ineiad used his own body to cushion the fall which could’ve left Naymar bouncing his head off of the canvas.

WWE Raw women’s champion Becky Lynch says that Conor McGregor will dominate Khabib Nurmagomedov if and when they do rematch. Lynch and McGregor are two of the biggest sports stars from Ireland and have supported each other many times in the past, so it’s no surprise that Lynch is picking McGregor to beat Nurmagomedov in a rematch between the two UFC superstars.

The sportsbooks have opened up betting odds for a potential bout between UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones and top contender Jan Blachowicz. Blachowicz knocked out Corey Anderson in devastating fashion at UFC Rio Rancho to emerge as arguably the No. 1 contender in the UFC light heavyweight division. Jones was in attendance for the event and afterward expressed interest in fighting Blachowicz. Of course, Dominick Reyes could still get a rematch after his close loss to Jones at UFC 247. But after knocking out Anderson it looks like Blachowicz could very well be next in line.

Over the weekend, in the co-main event of UFC Rio Rancho, Diego Sanchez picked up a disqualification win over Michel Pereira after being blasted by an illegal knee in the third-round. Prior to the illegal move, Sanchez was seemingly down two rounds. Suffice it to say that it was not the greatest performance of his long and exciting career.

In the main event of UFC Rio Rancho, Jan Blachowicz was taking on Corey Anderson in a rematch of their 2015 fight where it was Anderson who got his hand raised. Yet, this time the stakes were higher as the winner of this fight could very well get the next shot at Jon Jones. In the end, Blachowicz extended his winning streak with a first-round knockout over Anderson.

Mike Perry has defended Diego Sanchez’s decision to accept a disqualification victory over Michel Pereira at UFC Rio Rancho this past weekend. The bout between Sanchez and Pereira, which served as the co-main event of the evening in New Mexico, seemed to be trending in one direction and one direction only: a unanimous decision win for Pereira.

The UFC 247 prelims did some big numbers on ESPN and ESPN+ in the lead-up to the main card in Houston, Texas on February 8. The big UFC 247 card, which was headlined by Jon Jones vs. Dominick Reyes for the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship, served as the company’s second pay-per-view event of the year. While many fans and pundits were expecting a big drop off from the Conor McGregor vs. Donald Cerrone main event which took place at UFC 246, it seems as if they did better than expected.

Ray Borg will no longer be eligible to fight in the flyweight division after being forced by the UFC to move up to bantamweight. “The Tazmexican Devil” Borg has endured trials and tribulations since signing to the UFC in 2014. His fighting career has been hindered with unfortunate illnesses, happenstances and injury. Borg was one of the fighters injured during Conor McGregor’s infamous bus attack targeted at Khabib Nurmagomedov. Borg has also faced many challenges outside of his UFC career. His young son has had multiple brain surgeries due to a condition known as hydrocephalus.

A boxing rematch between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather could be in the cards in 2020. Since making a statement return to the UFC against Donald Cerrone, McGregor has been dropping hints about his next move. Whilst a Jorge Masvidal matchup could be on the horizon, the Irishman could also be inching closer to a boxing return.

UFC legend Diego Sanchez returned to the Octagon at last night’s UFC Rio Rancho event for a welterweight scrap with Michel Pereira. The highly anticipated bout served as the co-main event of the evening. After a wild opening few seconds, Pereira was able to establish himself as the dominant force throughout the majority of rounds one and two.

In the co-main event of Saturday’s UFC Rio Rancho card, The Ultimate Fighter season 1 winner Diego Sanchez had his second fight under the tutelage of controversial coach Joshua Fabia. The bout pitted him against Brazilian berserker Michel Pereira. Fabia, who calls himself a “self-awareness coach” and has no real martial arts experience, was the lone person in Sanchez’s corner for this fight, and he had some interesting advice for the fighter between rounds.

Former Cage Warriors champ Nathaniel Wood entered the cage with John Dodson at UFC Rio Rancho with a lot of hype behind him. Unfortunately for the Brit and his team, the fight didn’t go as planned, as he was stopped by a volley of third-round punches from his experienced foe. Following the loss, Wood took to Twitter to issue a quick statement. As expected, the former Cage Warriors champ kept things classy and vowed to be back soon.
