Douglas Lima says he’s disappointed Rory MacDonald left Bellator as it ruined plans for a trilogy fight. MacDonald is the former Bellator welterweight champion but after losing his belt to Lima in the grand prix final, he left in free agency to PFL. Many were surprised as they figured the Canadian would re-sign to set up the trilogy with Lima, which the Brazilian thought would be the case.

Hendricks claimed UFC gold back at UFC 171 where he defeated Robbie Lawler to win the vacant belt. He would then lose the title to Lawler in his next fight and USADA would be soon introduced afterward.

Stipe Miocic makes it clear he won’t be defending his heavyweight title anytime soon. Miocic re-claimed the heavyweight title back at UFC 241 where he scored a fourth-round TKO win over Daniel Cormier. Since then, he has been healing up his eye injury. But, as his eye is healing the champ isn’t sure when he will fight again as he says he won’t do so while the pandemic is happening.

As he looks to get off his current two-fight losing skid, former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis is impressing those around him. Pettis is scheduled to fight Donald Cerrone in the featured prelim at UFC 249 which is scheduled for May 9 on ESPN and ESPN+ PPV. Coming off back-to-back losses against Diego Ferreira and Nate Diaz, Pettis has shown signs of his old self according to those around him. In a recent interview with MMA Tonight on Sirius XM’s Fight Nation, Pettis’ head coach Duke Roufus said although this is a rematch that Pettis won the first time, there is a new opportunity for Pettis to shine under the circumstances.

Former UFC light heavyweight title contender Anthony Johnson will get a top-10 opponent in his return to the Octagon, whenever that is. Johnson retired from MMA after losing to Daniel Cormier at UFC 210 in April 2017 in a failed bid to become the UFC light heavyweight champion. He retired as one of the top-three fighters in his weight class, and in the last year or so Johnson has hinted that he is considering a return to the Octagon.

UFC president Dana White says that Jorge Masvidal and his flying knee finish over Ben Askren at UFC 239 is his favorite KO of all time. There are hundreds of amazing knockouts that have taken place inside the Octagon, but perhaps none of them have been as crazy as Masvidal’s KO over Askren last summer at UFC 239. Masvidal was able to set a UFC record with the fastest KO of all time when he flatlined the undefeated Askren with a brutal flying knee in just five seconds. Askren was out cold right away from the blow, while the KO saw Masvidal explore into superstardom.

UFC president Dana White says he’s not very confident Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson will fight this year. Nurmagomedov was expected to battle Ferguson at UFC 249 on April 18 but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the fight was canceled.
