Former UFC welterweight contender Dan Hardy has responded to a recent callout from The Ultimate Fight season one winner, Diego Sanchez. On Wednesday night, Sanchez took to Twitter where he called out UFC stars like Demian Maia, Conor McGregor, Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone, and Hardy.

Sanchez, who has won three of his last five fights, was beaten in his most recent outing as he fell to a unanimous decision defeat against Jake Matthews at UFC 253. Dan Hardy believes Paulo Costa won’t fare too well against the top of the middleweight division. Costa is currently 13-0 and coming off a decision win over Yoel Romero. He has also won 11 fights by knockout including being 5-0 inside the Octagon. Yet, for Hardy, he doesn’t think the Brazilian fares too well against the elite of the division in Israel Adesanya, Robert Whittaker, and Darren Till.

He has dealt with health issues since then related to Wolff–Parkinson–White syndrome, but in recent years he has made it clear he is hoping to fight again one day. Last year Hardy re-entered the USADA testing pool, helping clear the way for a potential return.

The coach of Pettis, Duke Roufus, recently told MMAFighting.com’s Alexander K. Lee in an interview that he had heard Hardy is interested in Pettis as his opponent in his comeback fight. Hardy has not fought inside the Octagon since a 2012 win over Amir Sadollah due to the medical condition Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome. However, he has always held out hope of a return to the cage.
