UFC Mexico City: ‘Moreno vs. Royval 2’ Live Results and Highlights

By Chris Taylor - February 24, 2024

The Octagon heads south of the border for tonight’s UFC Mexico City event, a 13-bout fight card headlined by Brandon Moreno vs. Brandon Royval.

Brandon Moreno and Brandon Royval at UFC Mexico City

Moreno (21-7-2 MMA) will be competing for the first time since losing the promotion’s flyweight title to Alexandre Pantoja this past July at UFC 290. Prior to that setback, ‘The Assassin Baby’ was coming off back-to-back TKO victories over Kai Kara-France and Deiveson Figueiredo.

Meanwhile, Brandon Royval (15-7 MMA) will also enter tonight’s headliner with hopes of returning to the win column. ‘Raw Dawg’ most recently competed at December’s UFC 296 event, where he fell short in his quest to dethrone reigning flyweight kingpin Alexandre Pantoja. Prior to that setback, Royval was on a three-fight winning streak, which included stoppage wins over Matt Schnell and Matheus Nicolau.

Brandon Moreno and Brandon Royval previously collided at UFC 255 in November of 2020, with the Mexican emerging victorious by way of first-round TKO.

UFC Mexico City is co-headlined by a featherweight rematch between Yair Rodriguez and Brian Ortega.

Yair Rodriguez, Brian Ortega

Rodriguez (19-4 MMA) will enter the bout looking to rebound, this after suffering a TKO loss to Alex Volkanovski in July of last year. Prior to that setback, ‘El Pantera’ was coming off back-to-back stoppage wins over Josh Emmett and Brian Ortega respectively.

Meanwhile, Brian Ortega (15-3 MMA) will be returning to the Octagon for the first time in 19 months this evening in Mexico City. ‘T-City’ enters the bout looking to snap a two-fight losing skid, his most recent being a TKO loss to Yair Rodirguez.
