Yair Rodriguez and Brian Ortega

Ahead of the scrap, BJPENN.com reached out to several pro fighters to make their picks for the featherweight fight at UFC Mexico City. In their first fight back in July 2021 Rodriguez won in the first round due to a shoulder injury suffered by Ortega. However, in the rematch, the pros are actually going with the underdog in Ortega to pull off the upset.

BJPENN.com Fighter Picks Yair Rodriguez vs. Brian Ortega 2:

Max Griffin, UFC welterweight: Ortega gets this one back. He’s my boy and I think he submits Rodriguez. He had some success in that first fight he can build off here.

Geoff Neal, UFC welterweight: I’m going to go with Ortega in the rematch.

Jim Miller, UFC lightweight: Ortega I think. He should be able to use his grappling to get the win.

Marcus McGhee, UFC bantamweight: Man, that is such a tough one. I just think Yair Rodrigues has the cleaner striking and Ortega will struggle to get him down. I’ll say Rodriguez wins a decision, but it will be a close, fun fight.

Devin Clark, UFC light heavyweight: I’ll go with Ortega. I think he can control Yair on the ground.

Chris Duncan, UFC lightweight: The first fight was weird with the shoulder, but I think Ortega gets it done in the rematch.

Chad Anheliger, UFC bantamweight: I think Yair keeps this one standing and just pieces up Ortega to get a decision.
