Alex Pereira was “really upset” after witnessing Israel Adesanya’s performance in tonight’s UFC 276 main event. Pereira (5-1 MMA) was in the crowd to watch Adesanya defend his belt against Jared Cannonier in tonight’s pay-per-view event headliner.

The Octagon remained in Nevada for tonight’s UFC 276 event, a twelve-bout fight card headlined by Israel Adesanya vs. Jared Cannonier. Tonight’s middleweight title fight main event did not result in the barn burner most fans were hoping to witness. Instead, both men showed a lot of respect for each others power which prompted a slow and steady approach. Israel Adesanya got off the better volume if strikes in rounds one and two but Jared Cannonier began to make things more competitive by round three. Although rounds four and five were close, it was Adesanya who ultimately walked away with a unanimous decision win.

Sean Strickland has issued a statement after suffering a nasty knockout loss to Alex Pereira earlier this evening at UFC 276. Strickland (25-4 MMA) was returning to action tonight for the first time since February’s UFC Vegas 47 event, where he had picked up his sixth consecutive win by defeating Jack Hermansson by way of split decision.

Alex Pereira says he is confused by Israel Adesanya’s ‘big pillow gloves’ comment ahead of UFC 276. Adesanya spoke about a potential rematch with Pereira ahead of UFC 276. Pereira  defeated ‘The Last Stylebender’ twice in kickboxing but Adesanya stated that the MMA doesn’t have ‘big pillow gloves’ like kickboxing and the middleweight champion can’t wait to drive a four-ounce glove ‘through (Pereira’s) face’ when they finally meet again.

Sean Strickland doesn’t think Alex Pereira is that good of a striker. Pereira is a decorated kickboxer and a former Glory champion, but Strickland isn’t sold on his skills. Instead, he believes Glory kickboxers are overhyped and aren’t as good as many think and he plans to prove that.

Israel Adesanya believes Alex Pereira is overhyped and he hopes he can expose that. When Pereira signed with the UFC it was highly anticipated due to the fact he is the former GLORY kickboxing champ and has two wins over Adesanya including one by KO. In his debut, he scored a highlight-reel KO win over Andreas Michailidis and then beat Bruno Silva by decision in his sophmore appearance. Yet, for Adesanya, he believes those were handpicked opponents and because of that, he thinks Pereira is the most overhyped fighter in the UFC.

Glover Teixeira thinks Israel Adesanya will avoid fighting his teammate Alex Pereira at all costs. Pereira and Adesanya fought twice in kickboxing with the Brazilian winning both including one by KO. Since then, ‘The Last Stylebender’ made the move to MMA and has become a UFC champion, this while Pereira just recently got back into MMA and is now 2-0 in the UFC. The Brazilian is set to face Sean Strickland at UFC 276 on July 2 and should he win, many expect he will face Adesanya next. However, for Teixeira, he doubts the middleweight champ will accept the fight against Pereira.

The arrival of kickboxing sensation Alex Pereira to the UFC made quite a splash earlier this year. At UFC 268, after months of anticipation, he knocked Andreas Michailidis out to win his debut and take his professional mixed martial arts record to 4-1. The win led to many suggesting he could continue to build on that success and potentially even fight Israel Adesanya one day, but as we know, middleweight is the kind of division that’s pretty difficult to predict.
