UFC Vegas 28 weigh-in results: Jairzinho Rozenstruik, Augusto Sakai on point for main event

The official weigh-ins for UFC Vegas 28 took place on Friday in Las Vegas and all 28 of the fighters scheduled to compete have made weight. The main event of UFC Vegas 28 sees Jairzinho Rozenstruik and Augusto Sakai lock horns in a clash of top-10 ranked heavyweights. Rozenstruik is 5-2 overall in the UFC but he is coming off of a tough loss to Ciryl Gane in his last fight, while Sakai is 4-1 in the UFC and coming off of a brutal TKO defeat to Alistair Overeem. For both men to remain in title contention in a stacked division they will need to go in there and get the win here.

YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul absolutely trashed the UFC over its fighter pay, lashing out at UFC president Dana White in his latest rant. Paul returns to the boxing ring this summer when he takes on former UFC welterweight Tyron Woodley in a high-profile match on Showtime PPV. Ahead of the big fight, Woodley and Paul had their first staredown on Thursday night. Paul took the microphone following the faceoff and went off on an expletive-filled rant against the UFC and its fighter pay.

YouTuber-turned-boxer Logan Paul says that boxing is easier than mixed martial arts, saying that he believes that “MMA’s f*cking hard.” Paul makes his second walk into the boxing ring as a professional when he takes on the legendary Floyd Mayweather this Sunday at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida. Speaking on Showtime ahead of this weekend’s big fight, Paul was asked why he decided to go into boxing instead of pursuing mixed martial arts. Before he turned to boxing, Paul was a high-school wrestler and was said to be very good on the mats. But so far, Paul has remained focused on boxing and not MMA, and there’s a reason for that, as Paul thinks MMA is hard.
Kevin Lee says fight with Kamaru Usman "needs to be made eventually"

Kevin Lee says that a fight with UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman “needs to be made eventually” now that he’s fighting at 170lbs. Lee will return to the UFC’s welterweight division in July when he takes on undefeated phenom Sean Brady at UFC 264. For Lee, he is coming back to the Octagon after a long layoff following a submission loss to Charles Oliveira in March 2020. He is also returning to the welterweight division for the first time since 2019 when he lost by submission to Rafael dos Anjos in a failed bid to make a run at 170lbs. He is hoping that, now that it’s two years later in 2021, he will now be able to make a better run up the UFC welterweight ladder.
Uriah Hall vs. Sean Strickland moved from UFC 265, set as main event for upcoming Fight Night

A middleweight bout between Uriah Hall and Sean Strickland moved from UFC 265 and is now set as the main event for an upcoming Fight Night. Hall vs. Strickland is a battle between two of the top-15 ranked middleweights on the UFC roster. The fight was expected to serve as one of the five main-card bouts on the UFC 265 pay-per-view card in August, but instead, the fight was taken off that card and has now been shifted up a week. Hall and Strickland will now meet for five rounds or less in the main event of the UFC Fight Night card on July 31, according to ESPN’s Ariel Helwani.

It’s a highly-anticipated bout and on Thursday in Miami, the two had their first faceoff where Woodley decided to rap his song ‘I’ll beat yo ass’ to Paul.

Welterweight fan favorite Nate Diaz shared a new poster for the upcoming UFC 263 fight against Leon Edwards, calling it “best of the best.” Diaz and Edwards throw down for five rounds or less at next weekend’s UFC 263 event, which takes place in Phoenix, Arizona. The two rivals were previously scheduled to meet last month at UFC 262, but the fight had to be postponed after Diaz suffered a minor injury during his training camp for the bout. Now that Diaz is healed up and ready to go, he will meet Edwards next Saturday night in a potential No. 1 contender’s fight at 170lbs.
