While he may not have fought inside the Octagon for almost two years, Jon Jones still holds a big presence on the UFC roster. He’s been teasing a move up to heavyweight for a long time now and after UFC 270, it appears as if “Bones” is finally ready to put his money where his mouth is.

Back at UFC 268, Justin Gaethje and Michael Chandler put on a Fight of the Year contender that fans are unlikely to forget anytime soon. The two lightweights left everything they had out there in the Octagon and when it was all said and done, Gaethje was the one who had his hand raised in victory.

The UFC is gearing up for yet another year full of mouth-watering fights from pay-per-views to fight nights and beyond. While it may seem like we’ve only really just allowed the dust to settle on 2021, we’ve already had the first PPV event of 2022 after UFC 270 went down in Anaheim this past weekend.

Following his retirement from active competition, former title challenger Kenny Florian became an even bigger part of the UFC family. He was regularly featured on a series of broadcasts by the promotion, usually in a commentary position. However, a few years ago, he slowly began to drop off the radar – prompting questions from the fanbase.

Dan Hooker has taken another shot at Jon Jones. Over Christmas, Jones and Hooker had a back-and-forth after the “Hangman” took a dig at the former UFC champion for his comments pertaining to Chael Sonnen’s battery citations. Jones then fired back at Hooker and the pair continued to trade barbs. Now, a month later, Hooker opened up on why he dislikes Jones.

UFC announced last week that it was going to be launching its first round of NFTs, and it went about as well as it possibly could’ve. The promotion had the NFT drop set for the day following UFC 270. While fans were excited to see Francis Ngannou retain his heavyweight championship with a win over Ciryl Gane at the event, many fans were more excited about the promotion finally jumping into the world of Non-fungible tokens.

Justin Gaethje doesn’t like the idea of “irrelevant” Conor McGregor getting the next lightweight title shot. After Gaethje defeated Michael Chandler at UFC 268, many thought that cemented himself as the next lightweight title challenger. However, after Charles Oliveira submitted Dustin Poirier at UFC 269, he started taking shots at McGregor. Both men began expressing interest in a fight, but for Gaethje, he doesn’t think it is right for the Irishman to get a title fight.

Francis Ngannou is coming off a defense of his UFC heavyweight championship this past weekend at UFC 270. While the champion defeated his former training partner Ciryl Gane to retain his heavyweight gold, the real battle was going on outside the cage. Ngannou has recently been having very public battles with Dana White and the UFC brass since his knockout win over Stipe Miocic in March 2021, which saw him claim the promotions heavyweight title. Ngannou has argued that he’s been paid far below what he is worth, and has openly sought a fight with WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury in the boxing ring.

Frevola had entered the contest on the last fight of his current deal, and was hoping to snap a two-fight losing streak with a win. He knew people were counting him out but he was confident he would finish Valdez which is exactly what he did.

Francis Ngannou is fresh off the heels of his UFC 270 win over Ciryl Gane. The UFC heavyweight champion defended his title after scoring a unanimous decision victory over his former training partner with a grappling-heavy gameplan. Ngannou revealed post-fight that he had suffered injuries during his training camp, and had a grade 3 MCL tear and a damaged ACL. Going into further detail on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, the Cameroonian then revealed that he was actually advised by a doctor that he had seen pre-fight that he should pull out from his title unification bout at the event.

On his latest podcast on the “Timbo Sugarshow”, Sean O’Malley spoke to the controversy playing out regarding Dana White not presenting Francis Ngannou with the heavyweight belt at UFC 270: “Dana White didn’t even put the belt around him apparently. I went to bed. What do you think about it? I mean, dude, he’s the boss. He’s the man. You’re going to talk sh*t about the whole company, and I get it. I’m just saying. I bet (Francis Ngannou) honestly didn’t even give a f*ck though.”
